BLURB:
Kendall Shaw is in a rut. Sick of feeling like his dad’s personal puppet. Sick of being set up on less than stellar dates by so-called friends and family. Just plain sick of everything. That is, until Joe enters the equation.
Joe Butler has worked diligently to build his architecture business and reputation, which has just signed its biggest client to date. A law firm with endless connections in the greater Seattle area. Connections that could elevate his firm’s status.
When Kendall and Joe’s paths cross, sparks fly. But Joe has a strict no dating policy, especially when it comes to clients. But Kendall is relentless and refuses to accept no for an answer.
In this battle of wills, who will be the first to give in?
REVIEW:
This was a very fast paced short story that kept me riveted to the book from beginning to end.
Kendall Shaw is stuck. He went to law school and passed the bar so he could join the family law firm but his dad treats him more like an assistant, assigning duties, and not using him to his full potential. Now dear old dad has “assigned” him to oversee the remodeling of building they now own so they can house their growing firm. And if one thing Kendall can’t stand its tardiness. When the architect, Joe Butler, finally arrives over 15 minutes late he’s had it…that is until his eyes land on him. There is immediate chemistry and, even though it’s not good to mix business with pleasure, he has to have him just once which, unfortunately, has become his common MO. But, after a fuss from Joe about not wanting to be a bicurious experiment and it’s not ethical to date a business associate, the two hook up and realize that once might not soothe the itch they both feel.
This is a really, really short read but there is way more character and plot development than I expected with something of this length. I enjoyed that we even got to meet the families. The part that somewhat disappointed me was the tease to some BDSM action in the beginning and then, once they do embark on their relationship it didn’t happen. I also could have seen this develop into something longer and more substantial. The characters worked well and left you wanting more. I don’t know if this is the start to a new Seattle series but I could totally see it happening. The ending was a bit abrupt which leaves me questions that it could develop into more.
I highly recommend this fun, quick read and hope that you enjoy it as much as I did. It’s the perfect lunch break length.
