REVIEW:
Since reason the Unzipped series, I’ve been in love with J.C.’s work. And this series just proves it even more. The characters in this book are funny, flawed, and make you want to pull your hair out. There’s bad guys, people trying to kill Gabe or someone else, mafias, bad guys who get away with everything…just all you need in a good thriller mystery and I have had a ball.
Gabe is a magnet for trouble. Even when he is trying to mind his own business, trouble just seems to find him. And in this next case, he meets some ‘old friends’ and hopes to come out alive. A socialite is missing, her personal assistant is missing, just after being engaged to a man known for crime. And the crime family is the Delgados, who Gabe knows real well. And not in a good way. But even with the case starting to fall together, Gabe is getting trouble from other sides too. The Russian mafia have made their presence known along with his estranged parents. And the news they have is shocking. And it all may be a bit too much for Gabe. Thank goodness for his boyfriend, Maka, or he might have lost his mind and more already.
I love Gabe. Lol. Bless his heart, he puts up with more crap. All he wanted was to get his PI license to find cheating spouses and small stuff like that and from the beginning his been involved in murders, betrayals, surviving almost dying himself, and a business partner who loves to fight with their ornery secretary. Whatever just happened to peace and quiet. Lol. Whatever happened to just spending time with his hottie cop boyfriend, Maka.
I love, too, that this book is all about the mystery. Yes, there are intimate moments and dates, but the rest is implied. It’s not just thrown in. The plot is crazy good and it’s a blast to read. The whole series is and I recommend it wholeheartedly!
