Jaeger’s Lost and Found is the only finder shop to be had on the whole of the west coast. The problem is, Archibald Jaeger, the last of the Jaeger line, seems to be defective. A result of too many generations of crossbreeding with humans. But Jaegers are finders, and there’s nothing to be done about it.
Gael Murray has lost his connections. A vampire can’t survive without the energy exchange he has with the members of his coven through mental links. And, as of this morning, they’ve all vanished. Gael will die if he doesn’t reinstate his connections through a blood exchange. And his only hope to find the other members of his coven is to hire a finder.
Even a terrible finder is better than none at all.
Together Gael and Archie set out to save Gael’s life, but what was an already difficult task becomes nearly insurmountable. And Archie, who can never find what he’s looking for, finds himself falling in love with a man he’ll be hard pressed to save.
REVIEW:
I always enjoy reading Ofelia’s books. The elements of paranormal in them is such a joy. I think the only thing I wished for this one was maybe a little more action considering what Gael was going through and what happened to him. Especially when he found out Archie knew where to find the one who betrayed him. Maybe a stake through the heart kind of thing.
What saddened me though was Archie. Not his phobias. Everybody’s got at least one, but even though his finding ability may be watered down after generations, he’s still good at what he does. It may be in a different time frame than people want but he’s still good at it. And he’s so down on himself. So when Gael pops in for help before he dies, Archie doesn’t think he can help him. But in the end he has to overcome his fears and help this vamp before he dies. And it’s already starting. They try to reach out but everyone has turned their backs on Gael and mostly because of his ex’s lies. But also because of his own actions. Shunning people don’t help matters any. And now Archie literally in a race against time to save the vamp. He and Edie, his shop partner, decide to try something that’s supposed to be a myth, but it’s worth a shot. And hopefully they all make it out alive.
Archie is the sweetest. I love his character. He’s flawed as we all are. And he tries not to let it stop him but it does. But he’s loyal and tries to help in any way he can. His best friend/shop partner, I love her spunk but sometimes I think she goes a bit overboard in pushing Archie to his limits. I know sometimes we all need a little push but when you live in fear because of what goes on in your head, sometimes it’s best just to leave well enough alone. But I admire the hell out of him. In helping Gael, he went WAY out of his comfort zone and did all he could to make it better. That was a huge deal for him.
It’s a good little book. Full of all kinds of paranormal drama and people trying to kill people. Makes for some fun lol. But seriously. Give it a shot. If only for Archie. He grows on you quick.
