BLURB:
Heartbroken after the death of his beloved Nana, Hannes, the family outsider, finally allows himself to grieve. The legal battle over Nana’s quirky old house — the only place he’s ever felt accepted and loved — is over, and he moves in and finds a sense of peace.
… And a rabbit.
An adorable bunny with a huge personality moves in, too, and refuses to leave. Hannes instantly falls in love with the sweet animal who helps heal his heart. But one morning, Hannes’ view of the world changes when the rabbit transforms into a man. A man named Mattis.
After the initial shock, Hannes and Mattis discover a connection between them that runs deeper than it seems. Will their newfound feelings survive unraveling secrets and meddling families, and grow into something real? Something deep and everlasting?
REVIEW:
This was such a good story for me for several different reasons. It reminded me of my nana and the relationship we had before she died and because we have a bunny. And he acts a lot like Mio lol. So this was very special to me. Brought up a lot of happy memories of gardens and canning and cooking and just being. And now happy memories of the bun bun.
Hannes has been through hell. Not only has he lost the best friend he had in his Nana but everyone had to act like asses when she willed him the house. The house full of memories and times he will never forget. He’s held it together for so long, but finally getting to see this house and be in it again, the damn has finally broken and he can’t quit crying for all he lost. Hannes and Nana forever. Now broken. He does all he can to pull himself together and finally has the help of a little lop bunny that paid him a visit. The bunny stays and is giving Hannes the emotional support he needs, helping him get through his grief and moving on. But several visitors have had him wondering about this bunny and he soon finds out why. His bunny is man named Mattis. And they have a connection that runs deeper than they thought. But Mattis is scared they’re going to make him go back to the compound and he doesn’t want to. He’s found his home. And hopes he can stay.
I love these two. Hannes broke me when he lost his Nana. It made me think of mine and our relationship. It was ups and downs because of past crap but when I had my daughter we started over and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I remember so much from her. So I understood where he was coming from and why he was so upset. It’s hard to lose the one person who seems to support you and treats you like you are a person. Plus one that acts like a mom more than your own. I’m glad he had happy memories of her and them. Once the grief breaks through, the happiness brings it together. Of course having a little bunny helps.
Mattis is on for the run of his life. He doesn’t want to get married and have kids like the rest of the compound. He wants love. And a family in his way. And meeting Hannes has brought comfort they both need. They cuddle and love, mainly while he’s Mio the bunny, but once he’s Mattis, the connection seems to be even stronger.
But what I love the most, is they found family in each other in a time where both didn’t think they had anything anymore. They found a bond in their grief and troubles and became friends before anything. They had a foundation to build on along with everything else they had and it’s all they needed. I love this story.
