BLURB:
The day Ryan Fulton realises he’s in love with Jamie Holt is the day he knows he’s losing him. With blue-tinted white blond hair, eyeliner, and a personality to match, Ryan knows he’s a bit much. But can he change? Can he tone it down and, if he does, can he live like that? He’d never suspect Jamie of cheating, but maybe his closeted boyfriend decided flamboyant Ryan wasn’t worth the effort.
But Ryan isn’t going to take it lying down. Determined to win Jamie back, Ryan even decides to get rid of the black and blue lace undies he just bought.
Then Jamie comes home and says they need to talk.
REVIEW:
There’s not a lot I can say about his book without giving everything away. It’s only 17 pages so there isn’t much room to story-build.
Ryan is sweet and silly and he loves his boyfriend. He’s always very, very dramatic in a way that always makes me want to roll my eyes, even if I end up liking the character a lot.
There’s not a lot to Jamie and the only thing we really get to know about him is that he’s very nice and very shy and loves his boyfriend a whole lot.
It’s a cute book with an obvious plot that’s mean to be read in less than an hour and I recommend doing it sitting on the sofa on a rainy day, sipping a cup of tea and cuddling under a blanket. There’s really no angst to it, although some of Ryan’s self-doubt is a little heart-breaking. It feels more like an epilogue moment to a long story than anything else. Some short stories feel like a complete novel without needing anything longer to support it. This one does not.
There’s nothing “wrong” with the book, it’s just not spectacular in any way. If you’re looking for something quick and easy and that will make you smile on a blah day, you’ll probably adore this story.
