For a man on the run, is finding love a good enough reason to stay? And for a man who doesn’t want to leave, is a secret enough reason to walk away?
Even though a bad situation brings Tyler and Jarod together, they quickly find the good in their relationship. But when Tyler falls in love and finds the feelings returned, he’s forced to question if his and Jarod’s relationship is worth risking his freedom, his life, and their hearts.
Jarod knows Tyler is hiding something, but his fear of scaring Tyler away has him accepting Tyler’s silence. But instead of keeping Tyler close, Jarod’s avoidance ultimately leads to Tyler being taken away, leaving Jarod clueless and unable to help the man he loves.
Love, Trust, and Secrets is a story whose main focus is the love between two men and all the trials and tribulations that come with that love.
REVIEW:
Okie dokie folks. First and foremost, major triggers. Date rape drugs, attempted rape, murder, attempted murder, homophobia, and stuff associated like that.
But it’s a good book. It’s a more angsty one, so it’s one of those to read when you need the conflict, the angst, the pain and stuff. Not a happy happy book. But it is good!
Tyler has been on the run for a bit. He’s been doing all he can to stay under the radar until someone drugged his drink and he reached out for someone to help him. Thankfully, it was Jarod and with Jarod being a nurse, he could tell something was up. So, he stepped in and helped right when he realized the sleaze was coming back to get to Tyler. Thankfully, he saved Tyler but it was two days of hell for Jarod watching him recover and hell for Tyler because he couldn’t remember. But the experience brought them together and they agreed to a date. But when things started going toward the bedroom, Jarod knew he had to tell Tyler all that happened. Little by little, they grew closer. Dating and becoming boyfriend’s. Jarod knew Tyler was hiding something from his past, but tried not to push. He knew it was bad from the nightmares Tyler had. But Jarod had secrets too, and his are coming in their present. And there may be no coming back from it. Especially when Tyler’s past joins the fray.
Without giving stuff away, let’s just say both these boys have a shitty past and from psycho family members. One who let religion get in the way and the other with a wacko set on murder. So, I feel bad for both of them. They want this relationship and want to be together, but both are leery for different reasons. They have a hard time trusting people and letting people in. And with what all they’ve had to endure, I don’t blame them a bit. But they keep trying. There are times they scare each other because things get too much and they have to walk away and have a little space. And to insecure people, it’s scary.
It’s a harrowing story. It is an HEA but it takes a lot to get there. But it’s worth it.
