Outfoxing their enemies will be a bear of a task.
Aspiring journalist and fox shifter David ends up with a target on his back after hacking the Moreau Initiative, the shifter world’s greatest enemy. But he won’t let that stop him from the campus tour road trip that’ll help him become the next Anderson Cooper… even if his family insists he travel with a grumpy grizzly bear bodyguard.
Buddy Brady is older, sexy, and too damn distracting for David, and as the sexual tension builds, so does the suspicion around the repeated attacks—first in Chicago, then in New York. Someone is tracking them, and all clues point to a traitor in the shifter ranks. Worst of all, they could be after David’s family….
REVIEW:
I love this book! I need to read the rest of this series now. It’s fun, full of thrills, excitement and suspense. The characters are sassy, but good. So determined they prove who they are.
David has always felt like he was stuffed under his brother’s shadow. His brother was the favored one, the one who did everything right. And now that David had been caught in a hacking scheme that could lead to the shifters being found and found out, he’s even more convinced he’s nothing but a mess up. But he’s determined to prove he’s better than that and going to graduate school will help even more to reach his goal. But it comes with a price. A bodyguard at all times. Because his mom and the council think their may be a hit out on David now. David is pissed and tries to sneak out early, but is busted by his bodyguard, Buddy, a grizzly shifter. Who’s determined to set some ground rules. But as they get moving on the road, the hits keep coming. No matter where they stop or move off the destination, they’re found and someone tries to kill or kidnap David. And after they are caught, they break free but it comes at a cost. They know who is behind it all now and they shit is about to hit the fan. And just when David and Buddy have decided to share their lives forever. But forever may not be an option now that murderers are even closer than thought.
I know what it’s like to live in someone’s shadow. My oldest brother was the brainiac, with all this college stuff under his belt and why couldn’t we all be like him. So I feel for David. You want to be known and loved for who you are and what you bring to life. Not be like someone else. And knowing he’s not stuck with a bodyguard to boot. Yeah, not cool. The problem is, David isn’t taking this hacking thing seriously and doesn’t believe his life is in danger. He’s quickly proved wrong, although, he doesn’t want to admit it. But what makes things worse is the attraction he is feeling for Buddy. Who he’s learning more about every day. Like the fact that he’d rather be called Theo. His real name. And so much more. The more he learns, the madder he gets at how people treat him. Just because he’s a big guy and a grizzly shifter, doesn’t mean he doesn’t want to do what he wants with his life. No one considers him for anything and David has had enough.
For Theo, he’s frustrated at first. But the more he gets to know David, the more things become real. But he’s scared of crossing the boundaries of protector and lover. And the more David stands up for him, little Fox shifter David, the more he falls a little more in love. The dynamic between these two is so interesting. They are different as night and day, but there is no denying what they have together. And I love it. It’s not conventional, but who cares. Let folks be.
It’s a good book. People constantly after them, hacking, shooting, running, some hot sexy times. What more could you ask for? Lol
