Happily Ever Afters and Why They’re My Destiny
Growing up, whenever I finished reading a book I enjoyed, I would make up my own story. Sometimes the story would be related to what I read—my very first taste of fan fiction— or more times than not, just on an idea I came up with while reading the book. And although I can remember doing this as far as my memory goes, I didn’t start writing down any of the stories I’d come up with until my thirties. And even then, I only wrote vague ideas. It wasn’t until I was pregnant with the last son (the 3rd) that I wrote complete stories. I think it was a combination of having more time, as my two other boys were a little older and self-entertaining, the fact I’d cut back some of my hours working outside the home, and I think most of all, I’d wanted to find out how my stories ended.
Once I started to write, choosing to write Romance came easy to me. I’d written ideas for all different types of stories, even a thriller, which I will finish one day. But regardless of what kind of story, I always ended up with the need for my characters to be happy. Yes, even when their entire family gets slashed. Well, that’s a little much, they weren’t all slashed, but I still wanted that woman to find her happily ever after. Because, really, who would deserve it more?
In my head, Romance books are a chance to give people the ability to step out of their reality for a while, and that is a powerful and heady feeling. Now add to that, the ability to guarantee the story they’re reading will end on a happy note, no matter what’s going on in the reader’s own life is one of the best feelings I’ve ever had. There is so much drama, pain, and sadness in the real world, and while experiencing that in a book can fulfill you emotionally, imagine taking all that in, with the realization and acceptance that there is hope in the end.
I believe, that no matter how far down a reader’s reality is, if they’re able to take a break and share in someone else’s hope and happiness, it’s going to make them feel better. Maybe even give them their own hope.
For a man on the run, is finding love a good enough reason to stay? And for a man who doesn’t want to leave, is a secret enough reason to walk away?
Even though a bad situation brings Tyler and Jarod together, they quickly find the good in their relationship. But when Tyler falls in love and finds the feelings returned, he’s forced to question if his and Jarod’s relationship is worth risking his freedom, his life, and their hearts.
Jarod knows Tyler is hiding something, but his fear of scaring Tyler away has him accepting Tyler’s silence. But instead of keeping Tyler close, Jarod’s avoidance ultimately leads to Tyler being taken away, leaving Jarod clueless and unable to help the man he loves.
Love, Trust, and Secrets is a story whose main focus is the love between two men and all the trial and tribulations that come with that love.
I’ve been telling stories for as long as I can remember; my parents tell me it’s been going on even further back than that and not always at the appropriate times. Now I choose to use my gift for good.
I enjoy meeting new people, even if they’re only in my head.
I believe love comes in all different packages and each should be wrapped in a ribbon and cherished.
I’m currently working on a contemporary romance with a splash of suspense. I get a thrill coming up with unexpected and usually dangerous situations for my characters to be in and then thinking of extraordinary ways for them to escape with outcomes that deviate from the expected.
I live with my family in the Northeast where we enjoy white winters, balmy summers, a spring flurried with fragrant flowers, and a fall filled with piles of leaves to dive in to. Our small town offers the old world charm of knowing your neighbor and its location enables us to take off for dinner in a city known for its beautiful skyline or to an afternoon playing in the sand of some of the best beaches found in the United States.
For me, writing is relaxation for the soul and reading is its nourishment.
