Ever since he first set foot in Harrisburg, Tennant’s life has been a rollercoaster. Ups and downs too numerous to mention, hard knocks and championship rings. Through all of those monumental moments, one thing has been a constant for him, Jared Madsen. Now that their wedding day is drawing nearer, Ten is seriously considering eloping. He would, if not for his mother, his father, his brothers, the wedding planner, the guests, the cake, the press, and the team. Oh, and then there’s his best friend, who is vying for the job of ringmaster of the wedding circus. Would sneaking off during the night with Jared and skipping to the honeymoon part of the festivities really be all that bad?
When Jared proposed to Ten, he imagined a quiet wedding, on a beach somewhere, with family, and maybe the team. But life gets complicated with Ten’s warring brothers, a Russian goalie with a love of sequins, and a bachelor party organized by Adler. When Trent sends them a wedding planner, every spare hour is filled with choosing invitations, cake tasting, and finding a rose in the perfect shade of green. Add in Layton organizing a press conference, and suddenly their private wedding is destined to become a media sensation. Is it wrong to think seriously about kidnapping Ten and spiriting him away to a small deserted island?
Adler organizing the bachelor party, Trent supplying the wedding planner, and Stan writing a speech. What can possibly go wrong?
REVIEW:
What a perfect ending to this awesome series. We have loved Ten and Jared from the get go with their story in Book 1, and it has continued throughout. While other players had their time in the spotlight as well, these two remained a strong presence, so it is only fitting that this end with them getting married and expressing their feelings for each other surrounded by family and friends.
Things haven’t always been easy for these guys, and that continues here with the stress of planning the wedding. They are both a bit overwhelmed with the Rowe women handling all the details, so who better to step up as coordinator than the stylish Trent, Dieter’s bf and figure skating superstar. This doesn’t do much to ease the stress, however, and it is fun to watch Ten and Jared (mostly Ten) have to deal with it all.
One of my favorite things about this series is all of the fabulous characters. I most especially loved the development of Ten and Stan’s relationship. Ten is just this super great guy who is pretty humble about his hockey skills but who doesn’t hesitate to befriend the big Russian who barely spoke English. It genuinely warms the heart to watch them interact, just as it is easy to see how much Ten has come to mean to all of his teammates.
Between the wedding planning, the bachelor party and wedding, the guys do manage to find some alone time. I’ll just say that I was right alongside Ten and Jared with wanting to skip right to the honeymoon stage, but it was totally worth the wait, and I would have wanted to miss any of the other good stuff anyway.
I’m sad to see this part of the series come to an end, but thankfully, just as it did with the Owatonna U Hockey series, these guys will continue to show up again through their connection with Ryker, who takes us on the next journey as he reluctantly heads to the Arizona Raptors. While he mostly already had his story (with Jacob) with their college team, I’m excited to see how things turn around for the team we have all come to dislike. If you’re a fan of hockey and fabulous characters, I highly recommend you give these series a try.
