Love may not be pie, but when it comes to your lover, sharing isn’t the easiest thing in the world.
When Joe Morrissey returns home, heartsick and traumatized by his latest mission, the last thing he expects is to find his partner and lover, Brian Finnegan, has fallen for someone else. Even though Joe knows Finn has never been a one-man man, he has difficulty accepting Drew Martin’s place in Finn’s life — and especially in his heart. But when Finn is kidnapped by criminals seeking revenge on Joe, he’s forced to pair up with his rival to make sure Finn is kept safe. Joe has no choice but to face his deepest issues, not only about Drew, but also about his own past that has come back to haunt him. Doubt and pain are tearing Joe apart… Can Drew help put him back together, or does Finn risk losing both of the men he loves forever?
REVIEW:
I love me a good menage, so I was excited about this one. This turned about a little different than most in that Joe and Brian have been best friends with benefits for like eight years. While Joe has deeper feelings for Finn, he understands that they want different things. Joe is the picket fence and one man kind of guy, while Finn isn’t looking to be in a monogamous relationship. Joe has been ok dealing with Finn’s random hookups knowing that’s all they are and Finn always comes back to Joe.
That all changes while Joe is away on a mission and Finn is partnered up with the new guy at work, Drew. The two immediately hit it off, and it is quickly apparent they want to explore more. But when Joe returns, he has trouble with Drew being more than a random conquest. He tries to deal with it, but it is made more difficult due to Drew’s now being a team member.
Much of this story is spent explaining each of their feelings yet, they take a long time to get on the same page. It isn’t until Finn is kidnapped and it all circles back to Joe and his last mission. While Finn is recovering, Joe goes off to seek vengeance and make sure they are safe from here on out. Drew goes with to have his back and make sure he comes back to Finn. That mission forces a truce and trust grows.
It was frustrating to me that these three took so long to see the possibility of being together as a threesome, as opposed to two guys sharing a third. By the time they get to that point, the story is basically over, so I was a little disappointed. While this wasn’t favorite installment, I’m still a fan of this group of Mercs and am looking forward to seeing what they get up to next.
