Luke Emerson is the last person Sebastian Wakefield expects to see strolling into his tattoo shop. But Luke’s not back after four years to take up where they left off. Not even to apologize for the cheating that broke them up.
Luke wants a custom tattoo, a memorial for someone known only as “A.J.” Much as Seb would love to tell Luke to take this ink and shove it, he’s a professional. Plus, he’s reluctant to admit, he wouldn’t mind getting his hands on Luke again. Even if it’s just business.
Once Luke’s in the tattoo chair, though, Seb finds himself struggling with all the anger and resentment he thought he’d left behind—and those aren’t the only feelings reignited. Their relationship may have been turbulent, but it was also passionate. Four years clearly hasn’t been long enough for the embers of that fire to go cold.
A few subtle hints from Luke is all it takes to make Seb consider indulging in some of that physical passion. It shouldn’t be that tough to keep his emotions from getting tangled up in sweaty sheets.
After all, it’s not like he’s in love with Luke anymore. Right?
REVIEW:
I have a love/hate relationship with this book. Lol. If that makes sense. Every time I read this story, I want to hate Luke so bad. And part of me does. He destroyed Sebastian. And didn’t seem to care. But I love this book because through a friend, he learned what he did was wrong and never expected to be forgiven but at least wanted to say his peace, so to speak.
Luke didn’t just cheat once on Sebastian, he was a serial cheater. And shows no remorse in doing so. Part of it was because he was scared of commitment, part of it was, he was just an ass. He completely devastated Sebastian, so when he walked in Sebastian’s tattoo shop for a tattoo, he figured he’d be tossed out and told to go to hell. At the least. But Seb remained professional. As time went on, they fell back into bed, but Seb never trusted Luke. But he couldn’t deny the chemistry. But it wasn’t until Luke finally tells him that story behind the tattoo that Seb finally forgives him. And Luke seems to finally be remorseful and ready to move on. But forgiveness is different from trust. And Seb doesn’t know if he can trust Luke again to be in a relationship. It will take time and maybe a little magic to make it work.
Oh my gosh, Luke. He’s the reason for my love/hate relationship. Everyone deserves a second chance, don’t get me wrong. We all make mistakes daily. We’re not perfect. But it was the fact he just didn’t seem to care how bad he hurt Seb. And that made it hard for me. I’m all for second chances if the person is trying to change and make things right. And it just saddens me that it took a friend kicking him in the ass a few times to get him to see things.
Seb, on the other hand, is just as sweetie. But having his heart crushed has left him a lot leery of relationships and people at times. And I hate that for him. Trying to trust after that kind of heartbreak is it an easy thing.
The book is good though. The angst, the push and pull of the characters. It’s makes for such a good read.
