BLURB:
Homeland Security Investigators Pope Dades and Felix Jbarra have been partnered for six months and the excitement on and off the job keeps getting better. Working together every day is generally routine but when the partners are assigned to supplement the Secret Service on a VIP protection detail, things really begin to heat up.
An alternative energy conference is being held in Los Angeles. When Felix and Pope learn they’ll be bodyguards to a Saudi Arabian prince, they’re expecting rides in fancy limousines, a stay at the world-famous Beverly Wilshire Hotel, and exotic food. What they don’t expect is being once again thrown into the line of fire… literally.
Someone has put out a hit on Prince Ali ibn Abd Pasha and the killers want it carried out on US soil to embarrass the Americans in retaliation for US news coverage over the murder of one of their journalists late last year. Felix and Pope only learn of the danger to the prince when a Secret Service agent friend is nearly killed.
Pope and Felix dive headfirst into another exciting case but when they learn the man they’re guarding might be involved in arms trafficking because of ties to Mills Lang, they are forced to once again call on their buddies at the ATF.
Action, intrigue, and danger abound in the thrilling conclusion of the Thin Blue Line series.
REVIEW:
I always have trouble when it’s the end of a series. I miss my guys so much it’s like loosing a good friend. That’s what I love about Patty Logan. She does spin-offs and keeps you in touch with your guys. It’s wonderful.
Pope and Felix have settled into a working routine. They are together almost all the time but that hard headed, stubborn Pope won’t give up his apartment and move in with Felix when he asks him. It’s a good thing that that sexy young man has it bad for him. When the men are assigned to the Secret Service to help out on a VIP detain guarding a prince it seems like a pretty boring job…that is until someone try’s to kill the prince and almost takes them out in the process!
I have enjoyed getting to know both Felix and Pope. They were the perfect match to soften out and round some of their sharper corners. What I especially loved was watching these men learn to trust each other with both their lives and their hearts. But what was really special was how both of their families loved them and accepted who they were and the person they chose to love. I wasn’t quite sure how Felix’s family would respond to him blurting out that they were a couple. It could have been hit or miss with their culture and religious background. I’m going to miss these two almost as much as Thayne and Jarrett.
That’s thing that I love about Patty Logan’s series is that she brings back in our favorite men so we get to interact with them and hear about their lives and how they are progressing. Everyone knows that I am madly in love with Thayne and Jarrett! That’s a no brainer. But also Cassidy Ryan and his partner Mike Williams. Now all these men have wormed their way into my heart too and I love that we keep getting to visit with them. I really don’t think that Homeland Security is going to stray to far way just as ATF and LAPD have managed to stick around.
I did really enjoy getting to meet Albert Green in this book and the Secret Service. I am hoping, somewhere in the not to distant future, he will get his own story and a well deserved HEA.
I was pleased that the story line with LAPD’s nasty and crooked Captain Issa and his henchman, Pope’s former partner, Preston Redding finally came to a close. There is nothing worse that a crooked cop and turning on their own because of an officer’s sexual preference was particularly disgusting. It was poetic justice that Pope was there when the mighty Captain fell from grace and got his just rewards.
I am sad that this series is coming to a close but am very hopeful that this is not the last we will see of Pope and Felix. Huge thumbs up on a great conclusion to a super series!
