Hello everyone!

I’m Jodi Payne and I’m here to introduce you to my brand new contemporary MMM romance, Stable Hill.

 

When I started writing Stable Hill it was an m/m romance about Oscar and Jeffrey. Oscar is a widower and father of four living in suburbia whose dad recently passed away leaving him a farm he can’t afford to keep. Jeffrey is the slick realtor that Oscar hires to sell the farm for him. The book was about these two men on either side of a business transaction, and how they fall in love and reconcile their differences on how, and to whom, to sell the farm.

 

But every horse farm has to have a manager, right? That man is Russell White. Russ is young, on his own. He’s also attached to the horses so you can imagine how he feels about Oscar’s decision to sell the farm, and Jeffrey’s desire to get a good price for it, especially if it means losing his job.

 

As happens with characters sometimes, Russ let me know as I was writing an early scene with the three of them that he’d had a crush on Oscar since they’d first met, which was a couple of months after Oscar lost his husband to cancer. Russ obviously knew Oscar was gay, but Oscar was grieving, and the timing wasn’t right at all so nothing ever came of it.

 

Until now.

 

And that’s how I ended up writing my very first ménage. It was more than a little challenging. I got lots of feedback on it and worked hard to make it fun/hot/emotional/real all those things you want in a romance without glossing over the mechanics of making a triad work. Some things they try work great, other things don’t. But you know if it’s me it’s going to be hot, and you’re going to get your HEA!

Jodi Payne spent too many years in New York and San Francisco stage managing classical plays, edgy fringe work, and the occasional musical. She therefore is overdramatic, takes herself way too seriously, and has been known to randomly break out in song.
