A century ago, a spiteful witch cursed Edmund.
Ever since then, he has lived as an immortal house cat—short one life.
Anselm is a mildly depressed vampire with a soft spot for the feline he calls friend.
They live together as equals, companions for eternity—or so they hope.
But their lives take a dark turn when the witch who cursed Edmund long ago dies.
And suddenly, he is human again.
In a race against time’s cruel hand, Anselm and Edmund must make a decision.
Do they find a dark witch and re-enact the curse that plagued Edmund so they can be together for an eternity? Or . . . does Edmund give up forever as a cat to be with Anselm for now as a man?

AUTHOR NAME: Ashley Chamblee
Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Ashley. I work two jobs both with special needs adults. I started writing forever ago but started taking it seriously around 2011 when I joined Wattpad. Wattpad was also where I met my co-author Autumn and before her I never wrote with anyone else so it was a fun and new experience and it lead to Eight Lives all these years later.
How do you relax?
I relax but reading, playing video games, or writing. Sometimes I’m frustrated and I just want to blow off some steam and writing is a great way to do that.
How long have you been writing and what made you fall in love with writing?
I’ve been writing since I was about 10ish and I’m 30 now so like I said before forever ago. Honestly the thing that started me down the writer path was reading a book I didn’t like and thinking I could do a better job. Silly I know but my ten year old self thought I could do better than this published author. Afterwards it became less about trying to do better and just enjoying the the story I was making.
Did you always want to be a writer?
For as long as I can remember it’s always been a dream and passion of mine to become a writer.
Why did you choose to write GLBTQ romance/fiction?
When I was younger too young to be reading the book I found one that had a gay main character and I loved him and the book and wanted to write characters like him. Maybe one day someone will read Eight Lives and love Edmund and want to write GLBTQ books as well.
Do you write any other genre?
I also write Horror and Fantasy book.
Describe a scene in your writing that has made you laugh or cry?
There is a scene in chapter two of Eight Lives when Edmund is waking up again and he’s like spin in a circle chasing himself around kind of and I laughed as I wrote it. It’s a bit silly but I like when books can have that silly moment.
Give the readers a brief summary of your latest book or WIP.
Eight Lives is about two friends, one a vampire and the other one is cursed. And after some events happen they have to learn and deal with there new relationship and as the story goes on they learn and they grow and fall in love with each other.
What genre does it fall in?
I believe it would count as romance and fantasy.
What does your writing process look like?
It’s kind of chaos. I just get an idea and I start writing and then I add more and more into it and around chapter 5 I try to think what the plot actually is and what the ending will be then depending on that answer I start working towards that. It’s a bit different when co-writing since I’m feeding off what Autumn has done into her chapter and we kind of work towards the end together and then go back and change stuff and make sure everything is good.
THANK YOU
AUTHOR NAME: Autumn Breeze
Tell us a little about yourself.
Aaah! I hate talking about myself. I’m so bad at it. But, here we go!
My name is Autumn Breeze. I’m a bestselling LGBT+ author with over 70K followers on my combined Wattpad accounts Autumn_Breeze and Honestdying. I have three published novels Loving Anna, Grim Life, and After The I Do.
Just a couple things about me that most people seem to want to know are I’m twenty-seven, married, have one son, own a hamster and a dog.
The hamster is named Hannibal.
The dog is named Bristol.
They are both obese.
What would people be most surprised to know about you?
Most people are surprised to know I have Dermatophagia.
For those of you who don’t know, which is probably most of you, Dermatophagia is a compulsion disorder of gnawing or biting one’s own skin, most commonly at the fingers.
Do not google pictures.
How long have you been writing and what made you fall in love with writing?
I started writing when I was . . . twelve, I believe after reading The Lake House by James Patterson. The idea of children my age with wings was intriguing and I wanted to create my own little world with winged children. My brother ended up deleted most of the manuscript before I could finish it because he was that kind of elder brother but the fire was lit. I fell in love with creating my own world and have been at it ever since.
Why did you choose to write GLBTQ romance/fiction?
In 2011 when I wrote my first LGBT+ novel I did it because there was a lack of stories that reflected the kind of relationships I wanted to read about. But, I didn’t do it just for myself. I wrote for my little sister as well. She loves to read but had so much trouble finding a LGBT+ novel she would enjoy so . . . I wrote one for her.
What does your writing process look like?
It looks like a whole mess. I like to plot a little—things like names, setting, a few events that may happen—but for the most part I fly by the seat of my pants so usually when I am neck deep in writing and the words are flowing, I have papers and Post It notes everywhere. There are a couple dozen tabs open on my computer for research and information collection.
And my husband and child are traumatized because I’ve told them if they aren’t dying it’s not important; leave me alone.
When/where is your favorite time/place to write?
I write whenever the mood strikes me but my favorite place to write is my office! I have a huge desk filled with knick knack of all kinds. Posters of my books behind me. A storage unit off to the side that keeps a coffee pot and my favorite books close. And, maybe my favorite part of all is the half dozen plants scattered around the room.
What genre/s do you enjoy reading in your free time?
I love reading Regency Romance. Something about England, Dukes, Duchess, Lords, and Ladies really does it for me. Though, I’ve been known to break away from my chosen genre and read anything that sounds good. But, most often you can find me curled up with Tessa Dare, Sarah Maclean, Elizabeth Holt and the many more talented authors that write Regency Romance.
Give the readers a brief summary of your latest book.
Edmund is a cursed cat—short one life and Anselm is the vampire he calls friend. They live together as friends, companions for eternity—or so they hope. Then, the witch who cursed Edmund a century ago dies. And suddenly, he is human again.
What genre does your current book fall into?
Eight Lives falls into Romance | Urban Fantasy.
Will we be seeing these characters again any time soon? Is this book part of a series?
Eight Lives is part of the Match Made In Hell series. The second book my collaborator Ashley Chamblee and I have planned is about a different set of characters but because they live in the same apartment building we will probably see Anselm and Edmund again!
THANK YOU
I clenched my jaw. If this stranger had hurt Edmund, there would be hell to pay.
My immortal cat, as irritating as he could be sometimes, was my best friend. We’d been a pair since the beginning of the twentieth century and . . . in reality, he was all I had.
Everything changed but not Edmund. Nor me.
He was a cursed cat, once a young man in the prime of his life. I was the vampire he called friend.
“Edmund,” I called, dropping the bags I held. The fresh fish and blood I’d bought cascaded to the floor. Some of the packets burst open, but I didn’t care about the mess the blood would make or the smell that would linger for days; I cared about my best friend. “Edmund?!”
The stranger turned; his sharp gaze followed me though he was rooted to the spot.
I rushed through the living room, heading deeper into my home, knowing that if my heart still beat, it would be pounding against my chest like a sledgehammer.
Where was Edmund? Why wasn’t he answering?
Hunting through the rooms, I checked in all of Edmund’s favorite hiding spots—on top of the bookshelf, on my side of the bed, behind my pillow, in the perfect patch of moonlight that streamed through the bay windows in my office—but Edmund was nowhere to be found.
He was missing, gone, disappeared.
“Where is he?!” I demanded as I raged into the living room and caught the stranger by the throat. My fingers tightened as my anger—my fear—tainted the air, sending the thick stench of decay curling around us. The strange young man’s lips parted, opening and closing like a fish out of water as he grasped my wrist and fought for breath. “If you hurt him—” I couldn’t even finish the thought, much less the sentence.
The very idea of not having Edmund, of being without him . . .
I shook the man impatiently. “Where is he?!” I bellowed, shaking the boy.
He appeared desperate as he clutched my wrist and tugged on my arm, attempting to remove my hold, but my grasp was absolute as my fingers tightened around his neck.
Panic danced across his face. His wide eyes shined, a familiar neon blue that I knew.
My lips parted. “Edmund?”
I loosened my hold. It wasn’t possible. Edmund was . . .
The man I held by the neck trembled in my grasp, one minute a man, and in the next, thick black fur sprouted out of his transformed body.
“Y . . . You choked me,” he gasped as I gathered him close.
“You turned into a-a-a man!” I pulled him away from my chest, inspecting him as I did so.
How was this possible? He was cursed by a witch to live the rest of his life, or at least nine lives—eight now that he’d died once—as a cat. Right now, the fluffy black thing I peered down at looked like my housecat, but seconds ago . . .
