I am so many different directions with this one. I love that it was about misgendering and making it right. It was actually a really good story. My only problem is that sometimes, for me anyway, Ryker seemed like such an asshole.
Now, I know Gage was an Omega. His scent and classified gender was beta, but everything about him felt Omega. Everything. Except the fact that he couldn’t have a heat or produce slick. He wanted to be the submissive type, claimed by the dominant alpha. The kind that doesn’t even ask as far as the sex. Just does it. He wants to feel knotted and whole. But he knows he will never be able to have that. No one will call him by his right gender, much less listen to how he feels. When he goes to the northern pack to find a place for his sister, he meets Ryker. The alpha he wish would drag over the desk and have his way with him. Especially with the pheromones Ryker is giving off. But nothing can come of it, since he has very intention of returning to the human side of things. But Ryker knows Gage is the one for him. He even accepts that Gage is his OMEGA. Which for Gage is huge. And Ryker is going to do everything he can to keep Gage with him forever.
Being born technically as a beta but knowing you are an Omega is a difficult thing. In today’s packs, things are changing, but a lot of people still refuse to accept he is anything but a beta. Even his own family. Living in the human world, he could get sex anytime if he wanted, but it wasn’t an alpha knot. It wasn’t the feel of an alpha on top of him, claiming him. Taking him. He was getting help from the doctor in the pack to try and change things for him and he thought it might work, until he realized through something of Ryker’s, what Ryker really wanted. And Gage couldn’t be that. He didn’t know what to do.
Ryker knew the minute he smelled Gage, he wanted him. Something was different about this Omega. Other than his gender. And everything in Ryker said mine. He ended up taking him home and playing out his fantasies on Gage. And that’s where my problem came in. At first, anyway. Ryker didn’t really know what Gage wanted in the bedroom. And with being in a progressive pack when it comes to omegas, he should have taken Gage’s everything into account. But he was thinking like a dominant alpha. Thank goodness it was what Gage ended up wanting, but I really felt like he went too far at first. Without making sure it was all for sure ok with Gage. Once they established what they wanted, then it was great.
Gage needed someone like Ryker to be what he knew he was. And thankfully Ryker was fully prepared to be that. They just needed to both be in agreement. There are a lot of changes being made and for the better, and thankfully Gage was able to really the benefits of those. You will have to read to find out what and how. It’s really great.
