“What happens when thirst becomes an obsession that can’t be quenched?
Forty-year-old Zachariah Taylor prides himself on being the overprotective older brother of seven. He owns a successful bar, Zach’s Bar and Grill, in the quiet town of Riverside Falls and loves the life he’s built for himself. But as his siblings move on and find their forever partners in life, he’s starting to feel less and less needed—not to mention old. Suddenly, he’s finding it even harder to ignore the younger man who has pursued him for years, but the twelve years separating them is something Zach can’t seem to overlook.
Twenty-eight-year-old Drew Belford has been in love with the stubborn Zach Taylor for seven years. Sure, he was a kid when they’d first met, but what Zach is determined to ignore is the man Drew has become. Drew, however, is just as strong-minded and refuses to let Zach use their age difference as an excuse to disregard the attraction burning between them. He doesn’t need an overprotective older brother—he needs Zach.
When Drew begins to get unsettling messages from an unknown person, Zach feels helpless in a way he’s never felt before. How can he protect Drew from someone he can’t find? The thought of anyone hurting Drew unleashes years’ worth of pent-up desire Zach has had for the younger man. Is his thirst for Drew enough to protect him from the danger lurking in the shadows, or will the threat of the unknown be enough to dowse the spark of love between them—and silence Drew forever?

“What did you do?” Drew asked through clenched teeth.
“I handled it,” Zach replied, passing by Drew as he headed behind the bar.
There were only a few regulars sitting there and a couple tables filled so far, and Drew had already taken care of them. It most likely wouldn’t get busier until tomorrow. Grant had texted earlier that he and Lisa would be stopping in, both of them taking Thursday and Friday off to make it an extended weekend.
But Drew wouldn’t give a flying fuck even if the place was packed; he was fucking fuming. He followed the stubborn man around the bar, pulling on his arm to get him to turn around. “I’m not helpless. I didn’t need you to come rescue me.”
“Coulda fooled me,” Zach shot back, pushing his unruly brown hair behind his ear.
Drew released Zach’s arm and gasped; those snide words hurt worse than anything Sawyer had just said to him. Zach immediately looked like he regretted the jab, but it was already hanging in the air. And Drew was going to cut the fucking string right now.
“Drew—”
“You’re always going to see me that way, aren’t you? No matter what I fucking do, you’re never gonna take me seriously. Do you know the only thing you accomplished by going all caveman? You made me look weak and pathetic. I don’t need a goddamn bodyguard. You had no right.” Drew could feel eyes on them, but he didn’t care. He was primed and looking for a fight now that Zach had taken it upon himself to play the role of fucking protector.
“Whether you like it or not, this is my bar.” Zach stood right in front of Drew, making Drew tilt his head back to meet his eyes. Damned if his height wasn’t sexy as hell, and the heat coming off him made Drew want to curl up into his warmth. Muscles flexed in Zach’s strong, tanned arms as he crossed them over his well-defined chest, and those gorgeous blue eyes focused solely on Drew. And don’t even get me started on the guy’s fucking cologne… But then he had to go ruin it. “The shit that goes on in my bar between my employees is my business.”
Through clenched teeth, in a voice only the two of them could hear, Drew reminded the guy, “I’m not yours, as per your own fucking choice.” Tension, a combination of sparking anger and sexual electricity, pulsed like a living, breathing thing between them. They faced off, both taking shallow breaths. He wanted to grab the man and claim his mouth. Drew wanted to show him what he was made of; show him that he wasn’t some helpless kid in need of rescue.
