Fate –
A wonderful happenstance sometimes but other times it feels like a first class ticket on the crazy train and all you can do is laugh like a loon. Two people thrown together by fate’s fickle fingers:
Drake Malone – rookie CIA agent, grandson of a career CIA man who had told Drake stories when he was a boy about the beautiful girl he would save one day and now here Drake was with his first big case and whose face was staring back at him from the case folder? The granddaughter of his grandfather’s CIA partner – what are the odds of that? Dumb f-in luck or fate kicking him in the nut-sack?
Amalie Michaels – granddaughter of a CIA man who never told her what he did for a living because he wanted to protect her. Tough as nails and stronger than anything after losing both her parents at a young age. Holding a dangerous secret that she didn’t even know she had. And here she was staring at the man who had the exact same face and name as the man she dreamed up in her head when she was in high school who would come one day and heal her broken heart. How was it possible that he was real? Dumb f-in luck or fate bitch-slapping her?
Only time will tell if fate has dealt them a cruel hand or the chance of a lifetime.
Warning: Contains graphic sexual situations including M/F, M/M and M/M/F. Recommended for adults and people who love scorching hot love.
REVIEW:
Ok. Because I know how some of you are, and it’s not a judgement, I want to warn you this first book is probably close to 75% m/f relationship/sex. The first 50% of the book is most of that m/f. Now after that it does change to m/m/f and m/m, with the possibility of m/m/m. There’s a hint of the last. But for those of you who can’t handle the m/f, I want to warn you first. Like I said. No judgement. I just know some of you don’t care for it.
Now having said that, overall I liked the book. I definitely want to read on and see what happens. However, for me personally, for me, I wish there was more of a plot. The plot in itself was good, but it felt like the book focused more on the sexual tension and the sex itself. Which is not a bad thing if that’s your thing. For me, I just want some more plot.
The story starts out with Drake Malone taking over an apartment next door to Amalie to keep an eye on her. He’s undercover for the CIA and is trying to protect her, because someone is after her. For what, Drake doesn’t know yet. It’s his job to find out while protecting her. If he could stop watching her body and having to whack off, it might go a little faster. And now his partner and mentor, Brent is involved, because the danger is getting very close. Drake finally finds out where something might be hidden, now they have to find out what. And when they do, it’s shocking. Corruption in places they didn’t expect. While they are trying to solve this case, Brent is helping Drake figure out something about himself. And Amalie is very on board. But with the danger, can things last? And if they survive, they have to figure out how these relationships are going to work. Because Brent has a boyfriend who’s now involved as well.
So like I said, the first 50% of the book deals more with Drake and Amalie and their relationship. A tiny bit of Brent and his new bf are in there but after that is when the menage comes along. For Drake it’s tough because he really wants to tell Amalie what’s going on from the beginning, but he knows he can’t. It’s hard to see her and know he’s withholding information. He knows his life is a partial like she is seeing. So that gives you a glimpse in how Drake really is. He’s a kind and honest man. Amalie is tough. But she’s still a lady. She’s just one who will kick your ass and not blink. There’s a funny story in that too. But Brent’s goofy ass is what kept me rolling in this book. He has no filter whatsoever. Absolutely none. He says what he thinks, flirts with whoever and has the confidence to back up his claims. He’s had straight men come for him for experiments, so he knows he’s got it. And he’s cocky for sure. His new bf has his hands full for sure.
What I really liked, though, was the plot. There were secrets to be found, assassins trying to kill them. It’s a race against time. And shocks in what they do find. And with what they were hinting they found in one area makes me curious how far up this corruption goes. That’s the fun part for me.
I hope you guys like it. Give it a try. See what you think.
