The only problem is can he get him to listen. Damn it, why did the best man for the job have to be the one he left behind so long ago?
The last person Max Delgado expected to see while on an Undercover Op is the guy who left him high and dry after his life fell apart. The asshole who left him to pick up the pieces alone when his father was arrested for espionage, while he was still a teenager. Why the hell should he listen to a damn word Noble has to say now?
JASOC wants information they believe Max’s father holds. Max has always wanted answers. Can Noble keep his heart intact and his hands to himself, as he works with the one man guaranteed to make him crazy?
REVIEW:
So, let me start by saying that I like Annabella Stone’s books. Once I got started…it was hard to stop. I kept wanting to see what was gonna happen next.
This book was good in that it tells you more about Noble whom we really got to know better in Zenko’s book. I liked him and wanted to know more about him and we get to in this book. I like that Noble isn’t perfect and he’s done some things in his past that he’s ashamed of. That being said…I have to say that I really enjoyed this man. He’s a leader and I like that he’s not one to let others get in and do the dirty work and him stay behind. He’s a true leader in that he does what he orders others to do. I respect that. He has to play the game of being a leader, however, he’ll ask forgiveness instead of permission if necessary.
Max…yeah…I have to say how much I really enjoyed getting to know him better. I liked getting to see who Max was and then the man that he became. Max is a great operator, a kick ass Communication Specialist who is without a doubt, AMAZING at his job. Max has to deal with the feelings for Noble that once was and then what is now. I really like how Max knew that he’d have to deal with all of their shared past and how to move forward. Max is such a great character…strong, dependable and not without his wiles.
As with other Annabella stories, this one is fast paced and has loads of action. I was swept away into this story and really didn’t want it to end.
I will say that this story was told in such a way that it took awhile to realize that this was happening in the past. That really through me as I assumed that this story was picking up where Zenko left off.
I will also say that some of the editing errors threw me off as well…it took me out of the story and made me have to think about what I read and what it was meant to say.
Overall, this was a good edition to the series, however, if going forward and the book is about the past…it would be nice to have that information going in. Also, the editing issues will need to be resolved.
Still, it was good and I enjoyed it and it still gave some good insight into Noble and Max’s characters and gave good background. So, it’s still a solid read.
