Stoic men, who believe they’re happy alone, find the world turned upside down when their perfect someone stumbles across their path.
Marc joins the Lonely Hearts chat room where men support men on their way to finding true love. He wants to believe that kind of love is possible for him, but his once-burned heart stops him from going all-in with anyone.
The chat group’s philosophy is, “Figure out how you keep screwing up your happily ever after. Once you know, you’re more likely to find the true thing.”
Skeptical as he is, Marc logs in and meets men in various degrees of getting there. At least he’s not alone. Luther truly loves his single life on the Bakken oil fields. William’s not sure he’ll ever measure up, let alone find someone he can be himself around. And Andrew still pines for a guy he hooked up with on a reenactment battlefield before he got blown up on a real one.
One by one they start dropping like flies. Flies drunk on love. And sooner than he expects, Marc’s luck starts changing thanks to these new friends.
Walk alongside these men as they find the men of their dreams and discover their happily ever afters.
Lonely Hearts: a novella bundle includes: Bent Arrow, Stroke of Luck, Momo:My Everything, and Love on a Battlefield.
REVIEW:
This is a wonderful set of books. Men who are scared, but find what’s missing in their lives. Love. True, unconditional love. It’s takes work, yes, but it’s worth it.

Sometimes curves in the road take you right where you belong.
Luther Almond’s life working the Bakken oil field is perfect—short-lived jobs, temporary housing, and easy hookups. That’s one reason he won’t move home when he inherits the lake house. When Erik Heat bends over to fix Luther’s pipes, his tattoos hint he might be up for more than working on the drain. The last thing Luther expects is to want more from this guy than one night.
Every time they’re together, Luther is more grounded and Erik more confident. When the lake house demands attention, Luther asks for Erik’s help. There he imagines a more permanent life, one where he stops running. But he wants Erik by his side. Can he find the courage—and the words—to ask?
REVIEW:
I so enjoyed this story. I felt so bad for both of these guys. Their pasts have left them wary and hesitant to do more than screw, but a little time and a lot of texts showed them both it was time to move on. To hopefully, finally be free, happy and where they want to be.
Luther always felt so smothered my his family. Especially living in a small town, where everybody knew everything about you. And with small towns you normally get small-mindedness. He was terrified to come out, so he ran. I don’t blame him. I live on the Bible belt in fairly small towns, so I totally get it. He didn’t feel like he could be himself and ran far. He’d had guys when and where he could, but until Erik, he never had one that really mattered. And for the first time, he wanted everything.
Erik was a little different. His family knew and were all ok with it. But it was people he worked with that turned on him. Assaulting him and marking him. When I read that, it broke my heart. It’s horrible the way people are. So I don’t blame him for being wary. At all. But he felt the way Luther did. He was just tired of hiding and wanted to be with someone who was ready for him in every way. He deserved it.
Not everyone is ready at the drop of a hat to make changes. Major changes. But if fear is holding you back, it’s not worth it. Especially if you could lose the one thing that means more to you than anything. These guys had things to overcome. Who doesn’t? But the good outweighed the bad and it was time to be free.

REVIEW:
What an incredible story!
When you first start reading this bundle, you meet Marc in the chatroom. Still wary of dating, yet wanting love. He jumps on the site to meet people who are also gay or bi or whatever. Fellow LGBT people to associate with. And he happy made a friend in Hugo. (From the North Star Trilogy). Hugo gives him a piece of advice that has him thinking. And this is his story.
Marc is at the end of his rope. He lost everything in a fire, he has no money. Pretty much nothing left right now. Thankfully a friend out him up in a condo, which is free, but the downside is it’s a Showplace and people come to see it at all hours of the day and night. Hugo sent him to Goodwill to see if he could get kitchen supplies. Thankfully he did, but he didn’t have enough money to pay. Another man he ran into in the store helped him, and he was grateful, but humiliated. Especially after the guy jumped to conclusions when he ran into him earlier. Now he’s rear-ended their car. Whoever this couple is.
Cas knows he’s prickly and defensive. But his situation is different and he’s used to people making the wrong assumptions. When Cash and his ex and best friend Maisie, bump into Marc in the store, he’s overreacted. He tried to make up for it by helping him pay for his stuff but in the parking lot, he’s defensive again after being bumped into. Even the next time they run into each other, it’s taken wrong.
But they start speaking after a swim workout and little by little get to know each other. But with the relationship Cas has with Maisie, he’s not sure Marc will be able to deal with it and is afraid he will leave like everyone else. Marc wants Cas, but doesn’t know if he will be enough.
Poor Cas. I honestly do feel so sorry for him. He loves Maisie. They’ve been best friends for years after they broke up. They just have a good bond. But he’s tired of not having a relationship now. He thinks it’s time for them to not live together and move on. Especially Maisie. But she’s scared and digging in and Cas has had enough. He doesn’t want to lose her but he loves Marc. So I get how he feels. He wants to be free to finally love and be loved fully by Marc. He wants this so bad.
For Marc, everything is just too much for him right now. The fire, not having money to buy what he needs, not having clothes. Even a coat. He’s feeling so low right now. The accident made it worse. Your heart just breaks for him. His ex cheated on him and he’s scared. While he gets to know Cas, he knows the relationship he has with Maisie. He trusted Cas, until an incident made him think otherwise. And I bawled for him. He’s such a tenderhearted man. He’s so sweet and sweet souled. Just beautiful. I screamed for them to get together.
Marc had to remember Hugo’s advice. Fix yourself first. And then you can move on. He had to let go. Or lose the one thing he really wanted more than anything. Cas had to learn not to be so hot headed. It takes work. And these two have a very beautiful story.

*Extensively reworked from the short story, The Measure of a Man.
REVIEW:
I had a harder time with this story. It’s still a good one, but William kind of bothered me with some stuff. With being a gay, black man, he of all people should know what’s it’s like to be discriminated against. He has been. So when he started judging Nate by being too effeminate or whatever, it kind of bothered me. Either you accept the man for who he is and that you’re interested in him, or let him go.
Nate is a flame, a think, whatever name you want to name. But he doesn’t hide who he is. He is who he is. He’s comfortable in his skin. When the started dating, and getting more serious, comments would get made that they were longtime friends. And William never said much. At the end he finally did, but it just bothered me he didn’t stick up for his boyfriend.
I know William has to accept things about himself and come to terms with the fact that he’s a little judgy, amongst other things. I get that. But it was the little stuff that bothered me. Even with his asshole family members, he never really defended Nate. Or himself.
It’s a good story. William has to grow and grow up. And he does. In the end. I just wish he would have gotten there sooner.

Shep Wells would much rather travel the world than play at boring war reenactments. He never dreamed a Texan boy would capture his heart.
Real life and years separate them; Andrew is forced onto real battlefields, but for Shep the world is a playground. They’re opposites, but writing letters closes the distance, uncovering their hopes and dreams. When Shep visits Andrew, they get to see if the tug they’ve felt for years is the compass pointing the way home.

This is a story about first times, second chances, and the transformative power of the written word.
REVIEW:
Powerful story of second chances. Love lost but found again.
Andrew feels off because of his injuries in the war. He feels like no one will accept him. But in his kind, he only wants one man anyway, Shep. A young man he met on the ‘battlefield’. The had a whirlwind romance for a few days, and decided to write. Over the years, they wrote about everything to each other. Except for how they really felt. Andrew couldn’t even accept he was gay for a while. When he finally did, he felt better. He wished Shep was with him. He finally gets his wish. Shep’s coming, but Andrew don’t know if he can breathe from the nervousness. Time to make up his mind what he really wants
This was such a good story toe. Love lasting over letters and letter. Some words never being said. But I love they kept writing. Well, most of the time. Andrew got a little stubborn sometimes. When they finally got together, it was awkward, but sweet. They had so much to say, in spite of all they had said already. And it made the story so beautiful.
