Frankie:
My life sucks.
After spending a year jobless and on the edge of becoming homeless, I’d officially reached a level of desperation that, even if I wasn’t completely broke, retail therapy couldn’t fix.
While Sawyer’s Ferry, Alaska, is the last place on earth I’d ever want to visit, when my best friend, Holden, begs me to fly out and plan his wedding, I can’t say no. What I didn’t expect was to stumble into the administrative chaos at Copper Creek Brewing—or its too-hot-to-be-legal owner.
Clearly the man needs my help, and I’m willing to go above and beyond.
Way beyond.
Barrett:
I am screwed.
Six months after my assistant up and quit, I’m not any closer to finding a replacement, and things at the brewery are starting to fall apart.
And then in walks Frankie. He’s not the typical guy you’d find in these parts, and he brings with him a world of confusion. Because as much as I need his help, I can’t seem to keep my eyes—or hands—off him.
He’s supposed to be getting my life in order, but instead there’s a chance he could turn everything upside down.
REVIEW:
When this ARC showed up in my inbox, I squealed in delight! I was eagerly awaiting Frankie’s story and was soooooooooo excited to see it had finally arrived!
At first I had to check myself because this Frankie, well he was an asshole and I honestly was taken aback and didn’t care for him. I realized that while I was waiting for Frankie’s story, Barrett was just as important to me and I DID NOT like seeing Frankie acting so condescending and dismissive of him. Barrett deserved better! But then as the story progressed, Frankie opened up and I realized his attitude wasn’t intentionally mean, and I started to warm back up to him. And in the end, I was in love with them both and totally invested in their HEA!
I was a little concerned at first. Barrett’s reaction to Frankie felt VERY scripted and forced. Like maybe the story was going to be too long if things happened organically. But after a while, things felt a LOT more natural and real for me. Barret let some of history out and I realized that things only appeared to be forced, but were in fact totally realistic. I just didn’t have the knowledge from the start.
Once things started to flow better, I loved the way this was structured. This story, for me, was a bunch of very powerful baby steps forwards interspersed with those inevitable emotional steps backwards. Things started with a fear of the unknown and slowly crept into crazy lust then turned into love and then BAM, happiness! I was invested and eagerly went along for the ride.
These men really fit well together. They has such great chemistry both in and out of the bedroom. They may have been opposites, but they meshed perfectly and their journey was emotional but never overly angsty. They were adorable and romantic, and I loved their love.
I would have liked a bit more in the epilogue, but hopefully this series will continue and we will get more information on Frankie and Barrett in the future. I love this town and the people in it and am eager for more from this world!
