When Talon left to play pro ball six years ago, the hole in my chest confused me. I focused my heartache into making my own NFL dreams come true, and by the time I was drafted, the longing I had for my best friend was buried deep. Now he wants everything to be like it was in college, but we can’t have threesomes and be reckless like we once were. The media storm would be enough to break both our careers. That’s not my biggest concern though. The torch I had for him burns brighter after so long apart, and there’s nothing I can do about it. Marcus Talon is straight.I need to stay away from him.

Years ago, Miller and I made a pact that we’d win a Super Bowl together. When I’m offered a position on his team in Chicago, I don’t hesitate. I move across the country to chase a dream that’s a decade old.Only, now that I’m here, he’s avoiding me every chance he gets. If he was anyone else, I’d cut my losses. But this is Shane Miller–the guy who makes everything better just by existing in my universe. The guy I’d do anything for. The guy who’s more to me than a brother, a friend, or even a teammate.I’m not going to let him get away.
**Blindsided is a full-length MM novel with a HFN/HEA and no cliffhanger. Unlike the other books in the Fake Boyfriend universe, Blindsided does not contain a fake boyfriend trope.**
REVIEW:
This is one of the books I have been waiting for. I wanted this story. The chemistry between these two in the other books was off the charts, even though they weren’t supposedly together. And I wasn’t disappointed. Miller finally got his dream. Well, they both did really, even though Talon didn’t even know he wanted it.
Since college, Miller has been in love with Talon. They often had orgies or shared women, but they never touched each other. It seemed to be the unsaid rule. But it was killing Miller. When Talon left for the NFL and Miller stayed for his senior year, he experimented and knew he was bi. He never said anything because he didn’t want to upset what he and Talon had. If he couldn’t be with him, at least he was with him in the room. But one last orgy and him hurting his leg, started things shifting between he and Talon. He tried to ignore him and let him go but Talon wouldn’t have it. When they finally started fooling around with just them, Miller thought he was in heaven. Especially when they started getting closer and together for real. But reality is crashing their bubble. His injury may cost him the NFL, and with the pressure of coming out, it’s too much. Miller loves Talon, but is love enough to weather the storm that will hit when the media gets ahold of them…and their past?
The phrase ‘gentle giant’ fits Miller to a tee. He’s a massive, tough man on the field, but his capacity for gentleness and love is beautiful. He’s like anyone, though. Doubts and worries fuel him, even though he doesn’t want them too. He’s scared Talon will never love him the way he loves Talon, and if he ever does, what happens of Talon gets bored and monogamy isn’t enough? He’s worried about his injuries, his career. Who wouldn’t be? He doesn’t doubt his love though. And that pulls him through a lot. Even when he’s terrified. Not an easy thing to do.
For Talon, I love when realizations dawn. It’s like…duh. What he’s been looking for all along, has been in front of him all along. He just needed something to smack him and get it through his head. And boy, when it clicks. I love how he loves Miller. Even when they didn’t know it was love. He pushed him, sometimes hard, sometimes not. And he jumped in with both feet. He had his doubts. He had a few times he choked. And he was miserable for it. He knew Miller was it once it clicked.
These two have a battle. And because of their past, it’s a tornado. But no matter what they faced, the made a pact. They face it. Together. Always together. And that’s what makes all the difference.
It’s such a good story. And now I’m ready for a certain rocker to get his. Heehee. Happy reading!
