To protect his boy…
Brisbane is no stranger to hardship. At nineteen, he feels lucky to have a job and a roof over his head—at the same time. All his life he’s had to look out for himself. He’s never had anyone to guide and protect him until Malcolm.
Malcolm is an alpha tiger shifter dedicated to protecting the unique shifter community of Morningwood. He’s been tracking an elusive shifter hitman for months. But the slippery target travels freely in the normie world—no one ever suspects the golden retriever of brutal murder.
…there’s no threat he won’t face.
When the dog is taken in by the unknowing Brisbane, Malcolm has a choice to make. Determined not to let anything get in the way of his mission, Malcolm tries to ignore Brisbane’s jaded innocence and handsome smiles. But it’s clear the young man needs help even though as a normie, he’s off limits.
When danger arises, Malcolm whisks Brisbane away to safety, but when the hitman begins to sniff closer to home, Malcolm will have to decide what’s more important—his mission or the man he loves.
Sweet Meat is the third book in the Welcome to Morningwood Omegaverse Romance series. It can be read as a standalone.
REVIEW:
I think this is my favorite one of this series so far. The funny thing is I’ve been waiting for Dusty’s story, which I think is next. But this one just came out of nowhere and gutted me. I absolutely love Brisbane. My only complaint (and I don’t want to give anything away here) but a golden?? Lol. They’re supposed to be sweet babies. Ah well. Just makes it more fun.
Life for Brisbane just seems to suck. His own parents didn’t want him and the one person who do, his grandmother, died. He doesn’t really have many friends. If any, really. It kind of hard to trust people really when you alternate between living on the streets, in shelters and on someone’s couch if you can. His job sucks, his apartment crappy, but at least it’s something. Or was, until a dog, of all things, ruined everything for him. When he tries to befriend a seemingly lost dog, the dog brings with it a man, who seems to be cruel. But it turns out the dog is a killer who leaves no witnesses, and the man, Malcolm, is trying to save his life. But Malcolm isn’t normal either, as Brisbane finds out, and they are now in hiding, well he is, for his life. What he didn’t expect was the relationship he would have with Malcolm, and how it would finally feel like home. But surprises and danger are lurking in every corner and it’s a race against time to survive.
Brisbane is one of those little guys that just brings out every protective instinct in you. He’s snarky, but a lot of it is really a bravado to help mask what’s really going on. He’s terrified, a bit insecure, and totally out of his element. He doesn’t ask for much out of life. He just wants a little love, if possible, and for things maybe, finally, to go right. Being an obsession of a killer is not what he had in mind. Being something to Malcolm is, though. The more he learns about the shifter community, you can feel the yearning to belong. Even more so, when he discovers male shifters can get pregnant. And it breaks my heart for him to see he wants something so much, and can’t have it.
For Malcolm, he never expected to find another ‘boy’. In his line of work, relationships are tricky. He’s never home, so it’s hard to care for someone. But Brisbane called to him and his tiger, and for him, that was it. He didn’t care that Brisbane was a ‘normie’. He just saw a man he wanted to protect and love. Someone he would give everything for. Which made him perfect for Brisbane. They’re actually quite perfect for each other. They bring out things in each other, that they both need. Things to finally feel like they belong. That they are home. And for both of them, that’s huge.
I still want to see Dusty’s story, but this one was my heart. I adored it. Something about Brisbane. And the more you read of him, the better it gets.
