REVIEW:
I absolutely loved this book. It’s all about renewing love and second chances. And it broke and melted my heart at the same time.
When you have a loved in the military or going in the military, deployment time is hard as hell. Both fear them never returning among other things. For Cooper, that was it. He was deploying and he broke up with Jonah to save him. For Cooper, not knowing if he was ever going to return, weighed heavily on him. It destroyed him to break it off with Jonah, but he wanted him to be able to find someone to make him happy. And not worried every five seconds if Cooper was alright. But for Jonah, it was nothing but heartache. He didn’t know the reasoning behind Cooper’s thinking. All he knew, is the man he loved more than anything left him. Broke his heart and left him. For three years, he tried to get over Cooper but he couldn’t. He tried to date, but they weren’t Cooper. Now 3 years later, the love of his life is standing in front of him. His sister having tricked him and setting it up. But Jonah doesn’t know if he can forgive Cooper. Even now when he knows the reason why.
Heartbreak. Utter heartbreak. The sad part is, I can see both sides of the story. So it’s a hard decision. Cooper never knew if he was going to come home. He was to give Jonah a chance at happiness, even though it broke his heart to let him go. And for Jonah, even knowing the reason why, it wasn’t about happy or sad. He would have waited for Cooper, because Cooper was his love and life. So I get both sides. Unfortunately for them, communication wasn’t a factor. Cooper just made the decision to do what he did. Whether it was right or wrong, it devastated them both and left them on shaky ground. And because I see both sides, I wanted to cry for both of them so bad. Both never got over the other.
But thank goodness for second chances. That’s what I love about this. It’s about righting a wrong and rekindling what they had. The road would never be easy, if they decided to go ahead. Trust has to be rebuilt. But if the love is truly there, then it’s something beautiful that can be restored. It’s a beautiful book.
