TITLE: The Forever Kind of Love
AUTHOR: LA Bryce
PUBLISHER: Self-published
LENGTH: 44 Pages
RELEASE DATE: March 2, 2019
BLURB:
You never forget your first love … especially when they cause you pain. Chase thought he was doing the right thing when he left Liam years earlier, but when he finds out he was wrong, it might be too late. The trust they once shared may be past the point of repair.
The Forever Kind Of Love is a story of second chances that asks the question — is a good reason enough to wash away the years of hurt it caused? Chase comes home from the military ready to start his life with Liam. But he discovers Liam’s life has already started without him. Is there a place for him in it? Is the possibility of more pain worth the risk for Liam?
If that isn’t hard enough, they only have the week Chase is on leave to come to terms with their future. Can they find forever in seven days?
REVIEW:
I really wanted to like Chase and Liam. I could see the situation from both sides, to an extent but after reading this very short story, I was kind of disappointed in both of them.
The biggest issue is that this kind of story line is really not a 44 page story. The shortness of the book doesn’t really allow any for any emotional connection to the characters, something that’s essential when you are trying to build sympathy and understanding for them.
Everything happens so fast, and I get it. Chase’s time is limited so the author needed to get it wrapped up in a certain amount of time. But for me, Liam just came across as a pushover and Chase as kind of a jerk for making life-changing decisions for Liam. In my head, I get his reasoning, but if it was me? I would have made him beg a lot longer before forgiving him.
I’m giving this story 3 hearts because it has tremendous potential and I love the premise. I could totally see where the author wanted to go with this.
There’s not a lot else I can say without giving the whole story away.
One technical complaint is that the PDF I received to review was just one big, long chapter and when you are hopping back and forth between points of view, it really needs a chapter break.
I’d be very interested in re-reading this if the author ever decided to extend this story into a full novel.
