Flynn Henderson has always enjoyed the single life. Hot guys and hookups with no strings worked perfectly for him…until his best friend, Kace, found love with his dream man…that’s when Flynn decided to give love and monogamy a try for himself.
But when Flynn’s first attempt at a real relationship ends in disaster and his boyfriend abandons him, Flynn takes drastic measures to ensure his heart is protected and he’s never hurt again. However, Flynn’s plan is quickly jeopardized when his ex-boyfriend’s brother, Royal, shows up in Atlanta needing a place to stay.
Royal Maddox, a UK reality star with a bad reputation, is looking to mend his rocky relationship with his brother on a visit to the US. After finding his brother has taken off, Royal becomes intrigued with Flynn while staying with him temporarily, unaware of Flynn’s true history with his brother.
Temptations and desires intensify on both sides as Royal re-evaluates what he truly wants before returning home – possibly the guy his brother deserted…and Flynn devises more extreme measures to keep the gorgeous Brit from stealing his heart.
It’s all hands on deck as Flynn’s friends help him navigate the choppy waters of mending a broken heart and pushing past fears to take a second chance on love…this time with maybe the one perfect guy meant just for him…before it’s too late.
REVIEW:
I have loved this series, but I had a much harder time getting into this one as I did the others. It’s still good, don’t get me wrong, but it just didn’t click for me the way the others did. I still recommend it, though.
Fury doesn’t begin to describe what Flynn is feeling. Beyond enraged might be better. His now ex-boyfriend’s things being lit on fire is helping relieve some of that rage. Michael just up and left. Said he loved Flynn, but up and left. No goodbye, kiss my butt, nothing. So he’s decided to take a vow of celibacy to help protect his heart. That was the plan at any rate, until Michael’s half-brother shows up needing a place to crash. And he is everything Flynn dreams of. With an amazing name to boot. Royal. But Flynn is determined to keep his vow no matter what, and Royal is determined to relieve him of it. Royal’s charms work eventually, even to the point of deciding to be ‘boyfriends’ to see how it would feel. No feeling were supposed to get involved, and Flynn fought hard, but he fell. Royal did too, and was making plans to maybe make it permanent until Michael showed back up, as usual, ruining everything. Now Flynn is without someone he loves, and Royal is on his way back to the UK. Unless Flynn can stop him.
I loved seeing some of the other characters pop back in for this story. That made it fun. Marie, Flynn’s boss, shew. That woman is a trip lol. And of course, Flynn’s best friend, Kace and hubby Sawyer, from book one. And of course, the British quips. I snorted my tea a few times with those lol.
But it was finally Flynn’s turn, and seeing as he helped get Kace and Sawyer together, Kace was determined to pay him back. I can’t blame Flynn for being sketchy though. Not only did he just get burned, but the man’s family was his current drool fest. Flynn was scared to death of a repeat and who could blame him. Especially seeing how Royal acted on that reality show. Yeah, I wouldn’t be too quick to trust either. So it was hard for Flynn.
Fortunately for Flynn, Royal wasn’t a big prick like Michael. And Royal was trying to change his ways. He didn’t want to be like that man shown on tv. And yes, it irked him because some of that was edited to look a lot different than how it really was. But he really was interested in Flynn for keeps. He just didn’t know how to keep proving he was different, especially when he thought things were finally going well. So, of course, I felt bad for the guy. We aren’t often like our family members. And for a lot of us, thank goodness for that. I know for me, for sure.
Fear has a way of killing things though. And for Flynn, he had to overcome his. Hopefully. I won’t tell lol. You’ll have to read to find out how it ends.
