BLURB:
Twelve years ago, Wolff Mannheim was afraid. Afraid to admit he was gay but also in love. He broke up with his boyfriend, Gage Norton, in the most heinous of ways.
When Wolff accepts his dream job, he finds out his ex not only works there but is also his superior. Memories of the last time he saw him come rushing back and bring a deep level of shame. Now, older, wiser, and definitely out and proud, Wolff reaches out, through social media, to explain to Gage. All he gets is a resounding “no.”
Gage can’t believe his ears. He is filled with happiness as he’s finally made partner. His joy is quashed, though, when he finds out the name of the person to fill his vacated position: Wolff Mannheim
The moment Gage accepts his friend request, he regrets it. He decides the best way to deal with his nemesis is to ignore him, to have nothing to do with him outside of work. So why does he want to seek Wolff out, to hear what he has to say, and to tell him about his own past? When did his hate turn into caring about him? And maybe more.
Wolff recognises he’s still in love with Gage, but how does Gage feel about him? There’s no way Gage could still have feelings for him. Not after what he did.
Wolff is the first book in the Redemption Series and is not a stand-alone novel. The story continues in book 2, Gage. Wolff takes place in England.
This is a gay romance and book one of a short story series.
REVIEW:
I was looking forward to this new series.
Gage Norton is riding on top of the world. He had a rough late teen years but, with the help of his best mate Banner, he put his life before him and tackle the world. And now he has finally accomplished his goal professionally becoming partner of his firm. Now he needs to train his replacement and that replacement has knocked the air right out of him. Wolff! How could fate be kicking his knees out from underneath him when he had finally put the past behind him…or so he thought. When Wolff Mannheim gets wooed by the prestigious financial firm he knows he must leave Manchester and pursue his dreams. Those dreams come to an abrupt haunt when he learns who his new boss is. Gage! How can he possibly work for the man he humiliated twelve years ago when he foolishly ended it with the boy he loved but he couldn’t let people know he was gay?
This is a short story. That sentence right there should have sent up warnings that things were going to happen fast. Boy loves boy. Boy hurts boy very seriously. Boy runs away and forgets about the boy he loved and humiliated. Boy finds out his new boss is that same boy. Boy is totally screwed! I was prepared for all this. What I wasn’t prepared for was how Gage did a total one-eighty and forgave Wolff! I get that he realized that he still had deep feelings for Wolff but to let it go so quickly and the jump at the chance of a make-up and renew their passion in a blink of an eye threw me a bit. I expected a bit more of a slow burn and them tip-toeing around before they rekindled their love for each other. Even though this is a novella more than a short story it just moved a bit too fast and easy for all the past hurt/betrayal that had happened in their younger days.
Good story and looking forward to Gage’s book.
