Take What You Want…
Brandon Rosen is a man who refuses to admit what he wants—namely, a life with another man. Being gay just won’t do. It will not go over well with his family, particularly his overbearing father. Thus, for years Brandon has tried to deny his attraction to men, refusing to entertain even the possibility that his perfect person might be a…him. That was the plan and it had worked wonderfully until meeting Simon Carter—an arrogant star swimmer and law school student who also happens to be the best friend of Brandon’s first and only miserably-failed attempt at dating a man.
Simon is constantly in Brandon’s face taunting him to admit he’s gay. The more confrontations he has with the stunning man, the harder it becomes for Brandon to deny the part of himself he thought he’d buried deep years ago—the one that craves the touch of another man, and not just any man, but Simon—the one person he’s convinced hates his guts.
Simon Carter is self-assured, knows who he is and what he wants out of life. He’s a no-nonsense kind of guy who will do anything to protect his loved ones; so when his best friend’s ex, Brandon Rosen, makes an unexpected reappearance in their lives, Simon is determined to keep a watchful eye on the man, being prepared to tear him apart should he try to wreak havoc in his friend’s life again. That will be easy to do—right? Simon thought so, but what he hadn’t counted on was an insane attraction to the deeply closeted jerk.
To his dismay, Simon quickly realizes there’s just something about Brandon that reels him in, no matter how strongly he fights against it. What kind of man is Simon that he wants anything to do with the man who broke his best friend’s heart? He doesn’t know, but one thing quickly becomes apparent—he craves Brandon, and despite his better judgment, he intends to have him,…consequences be damned.
REVIEW:
This turned out even better than I thought. After reading about Brandon in book one, I was kind of dreading seeing what an ass he would be in this one. But it was so good. My only problem really, is this book needs to be gone over again. Quite a few grammatical errors. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Book one showed Brandon as a complete dick. Towards the end he tried to make it better, after making an ass out of himself. In this we get to see why. I admit at first I didn’t like him. But as Simon admitted, he grows on you.
Brandon was NOT gay. Despite being in a ‘relationship’ with Ty before, he was not gay. No way. Simon, however, calls bullshit and proceeds to tell him every time he sees him. Especially now that he and Ty are long over and Ty has moved on. Simon can’t help but needle Brandon, and the more Brandon denies, the worse Simon gets. Simon is determined to prove him wrong. He kisses Brandon, gropes him off and on, and sets Brandon on fire. But Brandon keeps denying. Little by little though, Brandon is starting to realize it’s time to admit he really is gay. But he’s so fearful of telling his family. Of being out. Simon gives him time and the relationship grows, especially after an accident that makes Brandon realize he could have lost Simon. But he’s still not really out. And after a date that turns bad, Simon has had enough. He sure Brandon will never come out and fully admit it and he can’t live like that. Now Brandon has to come to a decision on whether he’s ready to lose Simon for good or take that last step and finally let go.
Oh I did not like Brandon at first. And the more Simon needled him, the more I rooted for it. Until, like Simon, I got to know him. Brandon has had a rough time in his life. I don’t want to give too much away, but he has a very domineering father who constantly berates him for choosing a different career than what his father wanted. So I couldn’t blame him for being firmly in the closet. Who needs more of that. And because of his mother and brother, he kept his mouth shut. He didn’t want to lose them. But Simon was a tornado in Brandon’s life and it’s a good thing. Brandon needed shaking up. To finish taking that final step for control of HIS life. And truly, Brandon is a doll. He’s a sweetheart and so romantic. And I felt horrible for judging him falsely.
Simon is a force of nature. A complete whirlwind. And for Brandon, perfect. I love Simon because he’s so loyal, fun-loving but when he needs to be, he’s gentle and patient. Unless he’s made to sit still lol. He also has a bit of a kink that he loves in Brandon and it’s hot to see. He’s gives Brandon a chance to finally be free and to be himself. He makes Brandon face his fears, in several things actually. They’re so good for each other.
I really enjoyed this. Brandon’s story was tough but so good. And it couldn’t have ended any more perfect.
