Seven-year-old Markie is determined to shine this Christmas. He’s decided his light can’t be hidden any longer, but not everyone in his life is supportive.
This Christmas, he’s looking for a miracle. Maybe if the family’s Nativity can host a miracle, then it might spill over onto him and his family.
REVIEW:
You guys are killing me with these stories with these kids who are just amazing. I am in love with this story and little Markie.
At 6 years old, he knows what he wants. And he wants a dress for Christmas dinner. He has beautiful long hair and sweet little smile and a heart that is so big. And for now… he’s genderfluid and gay. His mom promised him he could get a dress and he found the ONE! He’s hoping this year will be a miracle. Last year was not good. His dad said some not nice things to and about Markie and then he left. Markie is forgiving him, but it still hurts. Maybe this year with his favorite nativity, and the wise man and Shepard, Paul and Gavin, just maybe everyone will get the Christmas miracle they all need.
Oh gah, Markie. So pure of heart. So innocent. And already been hurt for trying to be himself. He’s just the sweetest little boy. He doesn’t ask for much this year. Just his dress, for Paul and Gavin to stand together in the nativity(they’re in love and need to be together), and for maybe his dad to come to Christmas dinner. I just love him.
I love his sister, Madison, as well. She helped their mom, Carla, to know how to do what Markie needed. And being the fierce mom she is, she does it while protecting him the best she can.
But the one that surprised me was their dad. I can’t tell you everything, because it will give away the book. But Jeff had some growing up to do amd to decide if he could live with a son who is genderfluid and lose his family, or get help to make it right and his line of thinking right.
This is a great Christmas read. Honestly, it’s a great anytime read. Because no one should be discriminated against for being different. For being themselves.
