Please welcome to Love Bytes author John Goode who is joining us today to talk about new release “Jordan vxs All the Boys”.
Check out the wonderful guestpost below which incl all the boys!
Welcome John:)
There is always a summer. A summer where everything changes. You and a group of friends start out as teenagers, just a collection of teenagers that want nothing than to be more than you are and end it with the first signs of the adult you will become. Everything changes and no matter how old you grow, that summer will always be your favorite and those people will always be more than just friends in your heart.
They are your pack.
This summer has been shown many times in popular media, the most popular, I think, is Stand By Me. A group of kids starts out to see a dead body and end up finding so much more. I wanted to capture the essence of a summer like that but with a 21st-century twist.
I wanted to show what a gay teenager’s life is like taking their first steps into the world of dating and romance but more importantly, I wanted to show the power of friendship. These four guys, who could not be more different, are so close for so many reasons would all bleed if one was cut. That friendship is rare and even rarer as you get older.
I wanted to remind people that there was once a time when friends could save your life.
Jordan is a gay teen with all the anxieties and fears a straight teenager has beginning to date and I wanted to show that. Each of these boys goes through the same bewilderment and they make it through the other side by relying on each other.
Brandon is Jordan’s best friend and his defacto protector. He wonders if he is good looking enough for girls to like him but he also worries that Jordan might not find love as well. He is as invested in Jordan’s love life as his own and it’s sweet to watch him fumble around trying to figure out how gay romance works.
Ethan is a typical Southern California surfer kid. Obsessed with all things surfing and girls, he is the most clueless when it comes to the opposite sex and needs to the most help. Even though he is strictly heterosexual he is secure enough to love Jordan and to show him affection when he needs it. Ethan is living proof that even surfer bros have a heart.
Dominic is the unapproachable one. Quiet in public, sharp-tongued with friends he is the most critical of the quartet when together but to Dominic, it is done out of love. He is unsure what he wants starting the summer out and to be honest had the farthest to go to find out what it is that makes him tick.
The four of them share a passion for everything that is considered geek culture. They read comic books, play way too much video games and spend endless nights binge watching their favorite shows so they can argue about it until the morning. They are nothing alike on the surface but a closer family of boys you will never find.
I hope you enjoy their journey as much as I did and if I am very lucky, reminds you of that one summer where you started to become who you are today. We all need to be reminded of that summer at times and the feeling we all had when we were young.
Blurb: Everyone has that one summer, the summer where you take your first steps into adulthood. The nights are longer, the songs are better, and the friends you make are forever. For Jordan, Brandon, Ethan, and Dominic, that summer is now. This pack of self-proclaimed nerds set out on an adventure that defines every young man’s life—the search for love, or at least what they think love is. As with all great quests there are pitfalls and challenges ahead of them and they will have to overcome their greatest enemy, their own egos. But the power of true friendship could give them the strength they need to complete their quest and win their prize.

John Goode is a member of the class of ’88 from Hogwarts school of wizardry, specializing in incantations and spoken spells. At the age of 14 he proudly represented District 13 in the 65th Panem games where he was disqualified for crying uncontrollably before the competition began. After that he moved to Forks, Washington where, against all odds, dated the hot, incredibly approachable werewolf instead of the stuck up jerk of a vampire but was crushed when he found out the werewolf was actually gayer than he was. After that he turned down the mandatory operation everyone must receive at 16 to become pretty citing that everyone pretty were just too stupid to live before moving away for greener pastures. After falling down an oddly large rabbit hole he became huge when his love for cakes combined with his inability to resist what sparsely worded notes commanded and was finally kicked out when he began playing solitaire with the Red Queen’s 4th armored division. By 18 he had found the land in the back of his wardrobe but decided that thinly veiled religious allegories where not the neighbors he desired. When last seen he had become obsessed with growing a pair of wings after becoming obsessed with Fang’s blog and hasn’t been seen since. Or he is this guy who lives in this place and writes stuff he hopes you read.
