Reunited and reignited.
While cutting through the Interstices—the post-creation gap between realms—Smith, half-demon tech specialist for Enchanted Occasions Event Planning, spies the person he yearns for daily but dreads seeing again: the ifrit, Hashim of the Windrider clan.
On their one literally smoldering night together, Smith, stupidly besotted, revealed his true name—a demon’s greatest vulnerability. When Hashim didn’t return the favor, then split the next morning with no word? Message received, loud and clear: Thanks but no, thanks.
Although Hashim had burned to return Smith’s trust, it was impossible. The wizard who conjured him holds his true name in secret, and unless Hashim discovers it, he’ll never be free.
When their attraction sparks once more, the two unite to search for Hashim’s hidden name—which would be a hell of a lot easier if they didn’t have to contend with a convention full of food-crazed vampires on the one day out of the century they can consume something other than blood.
But if they fail, Hashim will be doomed to eternal slavery, and their reignited love will collapse in the ashes.
Luckily Smith is the guy who gets shit done. And Hashim is never afraid to heat things up.
REVIEW:
I haven’t read the first one, but I am glad I got to read this one. I missed how they met and their hot one night together, but we get to see them again. Yay!
For Hashim, he was counting down the hours until he would be free from the Ringmaster. A sadistic taskmaster, who has enslaved every creature under him. No matter if it’s against the law or not. But just as he thought his time was up, his original conjurer sold him for good to the Ringmaster. On top of that, the one man/being that he has finally found a connection with, has shown back up and Hashim is very nervous. Their last meeting didn’t go so well. While Hashim wishes to spend his days wrapped in Smith’s arms. He knows he cannot. One, for being the slave. Two, because he doesn’t know if Smith would ever forgive him. But Fate has intervened and they have met again. Smith eventually finds out what’s really going on when his company is taking over the grounds where Hashim is indentured. And Smith is furious. He refused to allow Hashim or the others to be slaves anymore and is coming up with a plan to free them all. Hashim just hopes Smith’s plans work or he will be enslaved forever.
Hot hot hot! Sizzling hot! Chemistry is off the chains with two and with them both being of fire nature, they feed the flames every time the simply kiss. Of course, any kiss between those two is never simple. And it took a bit for them to get back on even ground. Hashim had to fully explain what was going on and why he had to leave before. He was just trying to save everyone the best he knew how. And now it was Smith’s turn. I loved these guys. Even with all the crap they had been through and we’re going through, they still thought of the others.
Especially sweet Rion. Who was big as can be with a heart just as large. I think I loved him best. Don’t get me wrong. I love almost all the characters. But Rion was so special. People were scared of him because he was so big and looked like a monster. But he would never hurt anyone. Not a fly. And he was so special. The way he takes care of plants and talks to them. Oh. Just melted my heart. Just a giant teddy bear. I’m such a sucker for the big softies. *Sighs* I can’t help it.
This was such a good book. I’m so glad I got to read. The characters were fun and sweet. And I love paranormal stuff. And this was loaded of beings of all kinds. Good and bad.
