BLURB:
Lavender Shores’ resident tattoo artist Connor Clark looks the part – six-foot-six, muscle-bound, and covered in ink – and most definitely doesn’t blend in. Grafted into the Bryant family as a teenager to escape his abusive father, the Bryants saved his life, but Connor has never truly felt a part of the founding family royalty. And if his heart’s desire were revealed, it would betray everything the Bryants have done for him.
Micah Bryant was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He’s always had everything he ever wanted – save the one he desires most. Even moving to New York City for a few years didn’t dampen his passion – not that Micah had expected it to. He’s known his destiny since he was nine years old, the moment it had walked through his door.
After years of longing, years of secrets, and stolen moments of passion and love, Connor weakens enough to allow the town to see how he feels and lets the Bryants know his love for Micah is anything but brotherly. But no sooner had the decision been made than Connor’s biological family returns and shatters it all. Still, Micah holds on to the belief that their romance was written in the stars, but maybe he’d been wrong all those years….
STORY REVIEW:
This story has brought back the emotions and the tension I do live about this series. I floundered through the last book but this one hooked me all over again.
This story is hard to categorize. It’s got pseudo brothers, it’s got second and third and fourth chances, it’s got slow burn, it’s got HOT lust, it’s got angst, it’s got heartache, it’s got love. It was a an emotional ride full of promise and an ending that left me satisfied.
I love the people of lavender shores. And I love seeing them in all their weird glory. But this story showed another side to these folks. There was a bit more seriousness and some of the well known players acted a bit out of character based on the previous books. But I LOVED THAT. This story pushed them out of their comfort zones and it showed. And it was presented so perfectly because it’s showed the flaws and it showed the imperfections.
I think that was my favorite part of this one, the honesty. People knew logically that these men weren’t blood related, but in their hearts that didn’t matter. So the initial reactions were honest and understandable even I was hoping for that perfect coming out.
This relationship was a hard one for me to read while also being the easiest. It was hard because the emotions were just so raw and I wanted to beat both men for being so stupid. At the same time, I know this author so I knew it would end up all good so I was able to just sit back and enjoy the uncertainty and the tension and the love and heartache. I was able to fall into the emotions and know that the ending would be worth it, and it was!
I think this has been my favorite book in this series so far because it was loving yet imperfect. It had a dose of reality while still maintaining that unrealistic perfection.
I am looking forward to the next one!
NARRATION REVIEW:
As always, Kirt Graves produced a winner. The emotions were so clear and the tension leapt out of my earphones. Kurt brought these men to life and added to my enjoyment of this story. I hope he continues to narrate the remainder of this series!
