A Wish Upon the Stars (Tales From Verania #4)

Wish Upon the Stars (Tales from Verania #4) by TJ Klune

TJ Klune finishes out his Tales from Verania series with this amazing book. What starts out to potentially be described as a simple humorous adventure tale with some very queer characters slowly develops over the series to deal with some very serious issues – politics, love, family, obligations, & choices vs destiny. Klune is at the top of game writing the end of the epic adventures of a wizard, a knight, a hornless unicorn, a half-giant, and various other surprisingly quirky characters.

Ravensong (Green Creek, #2)

Ravensong (Green Creek #2) by TJ Klune

Klune’s second book in his Green Creek series, the story continues of the epic family drama of a pack of werewolves. Klune explores the saga further and from different perspectives, leading to the realization of another set of larger themes. Told in a different writing style than the first book, Klune continues to show his mastery of the written word.

 The Bones Beneath My Skin

The Bones Beneath my Skin by TJ Klune

Klune’s first self-published book, this standalone adventure is a retro tale set in the 1990’s when everything changes. Having hints of nostalgia, Klune again writes on deeper issues than just a story, this time dealing with loss, family, and a sense of hope. His characters are deeply feeling, have some humor, and are always engaging.

A Few Good Fish (Fish Out of Water, #3)

A Few Good Fish (Fish Out of Water #3) by Amy Lane

Amy Lane ventures away from her heavy angst to continue her Fish Out Of Water series with this fun and adventurous book. With returning characters, new characters, and some from her Racing for the Sun book, they all have their amusing and enduring quirks that make this story a joy to read.

Whisper

Whisper by Tal Bauer

Intrigue, current affairs, and war make this wonderfully written part thriller/part historical novel a fascinating and informative read. The research and detail in this book are phenomenal and makes me want to learn more about the events after 9/11. Bauer gives multiple perspectives that leaves one to ponder their understanding of the wider world. The central characters are tightly constructed to paint the picture of a world trying to find meaning.

 Boy Shattered

Boy Shattered by Eli Easton

A heart-wrenching read that centers on a school shooting, this important book chronicles the aftermath of two young men navigating their lives after such a horrific event. Told in wonderful detail and giving one a perspective on our world, the book is filled with important topics that Americans families face today. It can be a difficult read but is also very rewarding.
