A warm welcome to author Teodora Kostova joining us today to talk about her new release “Grounded”
Welcome Teodora 🙂
Do you believe in soulmates?
I do.
I believe there’s someone out there whose soul is connected to another person’s through a special bond nobody can understand or rationalise.
Greg and Shane from my new book Grounded share that special bond. Their love and their connection are tested over and over again, through war, tragedy, and distance. Somehow, every time they find their way back to each other, a new challenge stands in their way, even more difficult than the last one.
Sometimes, love is not enough to overcome all the challenges life throws your way, but sometimes, it is. Greg and Shane are one of the most charismatic couples I’ve ever written, their connection is so strong I felt it in my bones. Most of the time I felt like a bystander, writing down whatever they did next without having any control over it. And when things got bad it really affected me, more so than any other book I’ve written.
Writing Grounded has been a brand new writing experience for me. I’ve never been affected by a story so much before, to a point where I had trouble distinguishing what’s real and what’s in my head. It was draining, but so rewarding at the same time. Greg and Shane will stay in my heart forever, and I hope their story touches the heart of everyone who reads it!
“Did he ditch you for someone hotter?” Shane’s smirk was pure temptation.
“Do you see anyone hotter in this place?”
Shane laughed, then started scanning the crowd with a finger to his lips as if considering it. From the corner of my eye I saw Amir shaking his head affectionately at us before his eyes locked on his date, the rest of us forgotten as he walked away from the table to join him.
“This guy,” Shane said, pointing towards the dance floor. I wasn’t sure who exactly he was pointing at, and I couldn’t focus for shit when he sat next to me, his body pressing onto mine.
“You think he’s hotter than me?” I whispered in his ear, grazing the edge with my lips.
A shiver ran though Shane, but when he turned to face me there was a challenge in his eyes.
“Maybe,” he said, his chin jutting out stubbornly.
He looked so young and carefree at that moment that I couldn’t help inching closer, closer, until our lips touched. It was a light, feathery kiss that shook my soul.
Shane’s fingers clutched at the front of my t-shirt, his eyes dark and unfocused as he looked away, licking his lips. With a groan, he leaned in, pressing his forehead to my shoulder, his body trembling.
“Greg…” He said brokenly, exhaling against the skin on my neck. “What are we doing?” His voice was soft, like his lips when he pressed them to my jaw.
I lifted his head off my shoulder to look into his eyes as I said,
“Let’s get out of here.”

About the book:
Grounded is a sequel to Cookies, but it’s Shane and Greg’s story and can be read on its own. I’ve had this book in the works for what seems like ages now. It was a difficult book to write, not only because of the subject matter but also because it doesn’t follow the typical romance novel arc. I had a lot of decisions to make while writing this book, but in the end I just left the characters tell their story as they wanted. I feel that’s the most organic way to do it, especially because I’m a linear writer and have to follow the story as it happens.
What I can say for sure is that Shane and Greg are one of the most intense couples I’ve ever written. Their bond is so strong that as I was writing I felt nothing could hurt them or break them apart. As it often happens, I turned out to be wrong.
But don’t worry, HEA/HFN are guaranteed in all my books, so they eventually get there, but at what cost?
