JESSE:
It began with his electric touch and a hurricane of frenzied passion that ravaged my body, my mind, my soul…my entire life.
We both knew where the line was, yet we crossed it because it was the only way we could be close to one another. We told ourselves it was nothing more than a fantasy–a beach vacay we could treat like a dream, cherishing it in our hearts, but evading the real life repercussions of our actions.
If only it had been that easy…
We couldn’t keep away from each other, and one lust-filled encounter after another birthed a connection, which turned into so much more.
Now I’m head over heels for my best friend’s father.
Oh, Eric Westright…you’ve changed me. I’m addicted to your touch. I’m a servant to your desires.
I kept telling myself it was nothing more than a dream, but now the thought of awakening from our life together terrifies me. I can’t bear a world where I never knew what it was like to be lost in those magnificent blue eyes, to feel his caress against my face, his lips against my own…him loving me deep inside.
Oh, please, if this is all a dream, don’t let me wake up. Let me have this. I know I messed up, but I can fix everything I’ve broken. I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, and I’ll make it right.
I’ll do whatever it takes. Just please let me have him FOREVER.
*Contains the same triggers as BFF: Best Friend’s Father and BFF: Claimed. This is the final installment in the Best Friend’s Father series.
REVIEW:
So you know how you get really involved with a series, whether it be tv or a book like this, and when it’s over, you feel like it’s the end of an era or something? Yeah. I feel like I want to cry. I can’t believe this is the last book. Although, I did see something at the end in the credits or author’s page or something that makes me happy. Two certain people getting their story. Squeeeeeeeeeeee!
It’s been so wonderful to see the journey of these guys, though. It has not been an easy one for sure. And this book threw in a few more surprises to keep things interesting. There has been such growth. I had to laugh at one scene in the book where they are talking about how things always seem weird in what they are involved with. But they roll with it. Devon has created so many flawed and seemingly broken characters that we’ve all grown to love. Even when we’ve been screaming at the book, going “Holy F@$K!” But in the end, it’s always worth it. And the surprises at the end of this one were more than worth it. And I don’t think this series could have ended on a better note.
If you’ve kept up with this series, you know some major secrets have been shared between Eric and Jesse. If you haven’t read this series yet, go back and read the first two. There’s a lot going on you need to know before tackling this one. Anyway. After reading what happened with Eric, I was so super proud to see he was getting help. And not even just the help. But seeing that he was letting Jesse in. Really in. Makes you feel like a proud parent. Yeah I’m weird. But it was so beautiful. He has never let himself be that vulnerable with anyone but Jesse and Jesse got it. Jesse got how big of a deal it is for Eric to let him in and work with him in resolving what was going on with Eric. Any time you let yourself be that open with anyone is super duper hard. But the rewards are so freeing. And so worth it. And it was overwhelmingly amazing to see how Eric gets feel when the cloud starts to lift.
As for Jesse, he’s never felt more in love. He knows how hard it is for Eric and he’s so proud. But Jesse has his own demons too. It’s not all sunshine and roses all the time. Hell, no relationship ever is. But Jesse’s demons show more growth with them, too. They are both open about what they are feeling or going through and are there for each other in ways never before. And Jesse has to learn not everything he does wrong is the be all end all of everything in his life.
Both of these guys have had to learn a lot. And are still learning. Things that happen in the past are not something that is just easily gotten over. The feelings, the fear, the doubt, all remain often until the day we die. It’s just a matter of how we deal with them and how we let it affect our lives and others around us. These two love each other with all they are but it still takes work. Although, it’s one hell of a gorgeous, emotional journey that they’ve taken so far. As they grow and let go, it becomes evident it everything around them.
Including with Ty. And that made me super duper cry. Oh. My. Gah. We all know it’s been just as hard on Ty during this. But even that relationship has taken a new turn. Just you wait and see.
I hate that this is the last installment for this series, but all good thing must come to an end….or so they say. This is another one of those series I will be rereading over and over again. It’s been a hell of a ride.
