Finding an American civilian in a cave in Syria was not part of his mission brief. Zenko Marks, former Navy SEAL and member of the JSOC Task Force, has no idea who the mysterious man is, but he knows one thing for sure: he’s never left a man behind and he’s not about to start now—particularly one who looks at him with those stunning eyes.
Shaun Jacobson thought his number was up. Getting captured while undercover was never supposed to happen but getting rescued was a statistical impossibility, especially when he technically doesn’t exist on paper. The last thing he expected was a knight in shining Kevlar to ride in to save the day. Zenko is like no one he’s ever met before and while Shaun knows he should keep his distance he can’t help but want the man who rescued him from hell.
Can covert agents from two of the United States’ most secret teams allow their hearts to rule or will a joint mission between the teams cost them everything, their brothers and, worst of all, each other?
REVIEW:
Wow…another great story from Annabella in the Team Panther Universe!!! This book starts and ends with so much action. I was wowed and engrossed from the moment that I started until the book ended.
Zenko Marks is a great character. He’s tough and smart and great at his job. I really enjoyed getting to know this man who is a great operator and a good man. Zenko has been with his unit for a while and they know each other inside and out. I found that Zenko has given so much to his unit and to his country and never really for himself. Zenko finds this guy who is being held captive and takes him out and falls for him over the course of time. Zenko tries to keep doing what is right not only for Shaun, but for his teammates. A great leader and someone you can trust to have your back.
Shaun Jacobson…I felt for Shaun. Here he is on a undercover mission and then he’s betrayed by an his fellow officer and taken hostage. Then when he’s rescued by this Man whom he ends up falling for. Shaun is having a couple of rough months. Then the lying…the constant lying to Zenko and his team. That does take a toll on him. He needs to get in touch with his team and yet, he really didn’t try all that hard to get to them. That part bugged me…he kept mentioning that he needed to and he did nothing about it. That drove me a bit nuts.
The action part was well done. I liked that when it was that time in the story…that you were pulled into it. I get that it’s not totally accurate…it’s a story and I don’t expect those kinds of things with these books. I expect to be entertained and I was. I didn’t expect complete realism. Just enough to make me somewhat believe that it could…maybe happen.
The sexy times were done as well as all the other books that Annabella has done. Hot, Sexy Man Love. I enjoyed the time that they spent getting to know each other…not just in bed…but talking, etc. They did fall for each other pretty quick…but again…that’s typical in these stories. Instalust/Instalove…it’s hard for many (myself included), however, it didn’t bother me that much…it happens in these books and I go in knowing that.
I will say that the ending of this story really bothered me…it ended with information not being shared. Shaun was in the hospital and he heard some news that was never explained and then it was an HFN kind of ending. That didn’t really sit well with me, but that won’t stop me from reading the next book in the series. I would say to start with the Team Panther books as they are interwoven with the Tags of Honor series.
