BLURB:
Is it possible to find the heart’s home twice in a lifetime?
Six years ago, Sawyer Burroughs’s life fell apart. His soul mate and husband of four years died of cancer, and he fell into depression… and a bottle. It’s taken six years, but he’s turned his life around and is ready to start again on the other side of the country.
In his new apartment, he’s welcomed by his young and carefree neighbor, Derek, from across the hall. Derek is eager to make Sawyer feel welcome and even offers him a place to stay when Sawyer arrives ahead of his furniture.
The upstairs neighbors are just as friendly, and soon Sawyer finds a place with the friends-with-benefits threesome. He’s not the shy, vanilla lover they think he is, though, and he’s hiding more than a pair of nipple rings. As it happens, the guys have kinky secrets of their own, but for four men to make a BDSM relationship last, they’ll have to figure some things out.
REVIEW:
I think a great title for this would have been “How to train your Dom”.
Sawyer had the “perfect life” with his Dom and Husband James, his college professor. Then the unspeakable happened, James got cancer and Sawyer’s perfect life crumbled and fell apart. Without the structure and discipline that was so necessary for him to function Sawyer found himself at the bottom of a bottle. Now that he is sober and trying to right himself he sells everything that was part of his former life and moves across the country for a fresh, new start. The moment he lands at his new home, a former large house that has been tastefully renovated into four lovely and unique apartments, he meets a wonderful young man that just steps up and takes over. When Sawyer discovers that the three other tenants have a friends-with-benefits arrangement it is a bit overwhelming. But he has grown fond of his time with Derek, and Luke it turns out, is a Dom to Benny and recognizes immediately Sawyers needs. But will Derek be on-board with his unique needs and kinks???
I somehow thought that this would develop a different way. Yes, all four men would “play” together and Luke was a wonderful mentor for Derek but this was more of just Derek and Sawyer with a bit more “play time” with Luke and Benny. I did love how Luke was a born Dom and leader. He took charge but recognized the dynamic that formed immediately with Sawyer and Derek. But I think my most favorite part of Luke was how in sync he was with Benny and recognized Benny’s needs and insecurities.
This is not hardcore BDSM. Yes there are toys that are played with but it seemed pretty tame for a 24/7 subs needs. I know that they are in the “get to know you” stage and Derek didn’t even have a clue about being a Dom. And I loved that Derek was willing to do and learn what was needed for his Sawyer. And that Sawyer was so appreciative of Derek’s willingness to learn and try new things. They made a very sweet couple.
If you are going into this expect full time, hard core foursome or BDSM then this is definitely not the book for you. However, if you are looking for a sweet, wonderful love story of two men, and their friends, that will do anything necessary for their “one” then this is the story for you.
