But living this way is necessary if he wants to be able to stay calm, stay stead and stay in control.
Until, he meets a young man that makes him lose control.
Berlin cares about one thing, providing for his mother and sister. When his father died and his little sister was diagnosed, Berlin knew that they would need money and lots of it. He thought he was lucky when Pete, an old friend of his father’s, came into his life with an interesting proposition. For two years, Berlin has acted as a prostitute, serving who ever can pay so he can take care of his family. Then he meets Max, mysterious, sexy and all consuming. Max wants to take care of him, the worst part? Berlin wants to let him.
His Baby to Cherish is the fourth and final Mpreg romance in The Den series. It can be read as a standalone, contains mentions to prostitution, abuse and cancer but has a happily ever after.
REVIEW:
Well I have enjoyed every book in this series, and Wolf’s Mate. I have fallen in love with all the characters, and yes, Farley is still my favorite. Although pretty much everyone else is tied for second lol. It’s been an interesting cast of characters and this one brings in another two. One who was to be invisible and one who wants to be seen, by the right person anyway.
Berlin is a cute little twinky red head that sets Max on edge the minute he lays eyes on him. But Berlin is in trouble. Sad part is, Berlin doesn’t even know how much. He’s been manipulated by his pimp Pete, into doing whatever Pete wants. He has no idea how far things actually go with Pete. He just knows he’s been raped by the man and has to take drugs Pete gives him in order to get through the ‘jobs’ he has to do. All to save his family. But he doesn’t know the truth of that matter either. I feel so bad for him. He feels like he has to do this. In order to be the man of the family and take care of them. With his father dead, it’s his job to take care of them. That’s a huge burden for a young man. He’s miserable. He doesn’t want this life.
Max knows something is up the minute he lays eyes on Berlin. And ends up taking off to follow him to make sure he’s safe. He sets something up with Pete to buy him time but it won’t be enough. He just feels like he needs to protect and take care of Berlin. Little does he know as well, how deep Pete’s reach is and what’s going on. Max knows he has to get Berlin away from Pete and out of that life.
It’s so hard on Max. For years he’s stayed in the shadow. So far in, that no one at work even recognizes him and he works everyday. Berlin being in his life makes him very visible and he knows he needs to tell Berlin the truth of who and what he is.
It’s a good book. I think my only disappointment is that I would have liked more of Max’s background. You get bits and pieces but it’s never really said. However, it’s still good. May/December romance. Plus mpreg. And a good end to this series.
