Trevor loves his life. He has a great family, amazing friends, his art, and the warm and inviting café where his creativity can come to life. His hard work has paid off, but something is missing. Despite his success, he feels tired and lonely.
Then a sexy stranger walks into the café, and into Trevor’s life.
Jordan’s dream has always been to be a songwriter and singer. Disillusioned, he walks away from his band to pursue his dream on his own. In Trevor, Jordan finds everything he ever wanted in a friend and partner.
Then Jordan is offered the deal of a lifetime. Will he choose love or success? Or can he find a way to pursue his dream without losing Trevor?
“Hey, I was hoping you would be here,” Jordan said as he came up to the counter. This made Trevor jump for joy inside. His heart was racing and breathing was hard. Jordan was actually hoping I would be here. Oh wait, is this as a good thing or a bad thing? Does he still want to do Open Mic? Maybe he wants to hang out…Jesus, get a grip, Trevor.
“Yeah? I was hanging upstairs today for a bit and getting some sketch time in.”
“See those pictures over there?” Dana jumped in to the conversation. Jordan looked over and quirked his brow.
“Those?” Dana grinned and nodded her head.
“Those are his.” She pointed at Trevor and walked away.
“Uh,” was all Trevor could utter. Dana never threw him to the wolves. He felt his face get warm. Normally, he loved when people saw his work. He didn’t care if they enjoyed it or not. Okay, he did, but if he felt it was good enough to hang up at his place, he knew it was okay.
He watched as Jordan walked up close to a photo of Sam in all his glittery glory. The photo was in a frame next to a large canvas painted in colors of the rainbow. It was of Sam at the pride parade, a huge smile on his face, waving a flag in support of the LGBT community. He’d taken the photo from the balcony across the street, and then painted the canvas shortly after. He loved that photo and painting. It was Sam through and through. Sam was a champion of the LGBT community and always stood for what was right.
“Holy fuck, that is beautiful!” Jordan stood by the canvas, looking deeper at its colors and flair, and looked at Trevor in awe. “Wow, that’s amazing talent you have there.” Jordan walked across to the one with the guitarist on the beach and seemed to be lost in thought.
“Wow is all I can say.” Jordan smiled.
“I have never seen anything so perfect.” Trevor wanted to argue that it wasn’t perfect, but he felt he should take the compliment. He personally thought the painting was spot on, but he wasn’t used to hearing such enthusiastic praise for his work. His parents and friends always gushed over them, but that’s what they were supposed to do, right?
“Thanks. It’s something I enjoy doing. I dabble a bit here and there.”
Trevor joined Jordan and pointed out another photo and canvas. This one depicted an older woman feeding ducks at a pond. There was a look of pure happiness on her face, like she was dreaming of another time and place. Or maybe she isn’t, maybe she is just being herself.
“This is Marg from the senior center. I just put it up. I hope she likes it.”
“These are amazing,” Jordan whispered in awe as he stared at each picture and canvas. The one with the woman had no pop of color, just shades of black and greys, but in Trevor’s view that made it more unique.
“Thanks! Sketching, painting, and photography relaxes me. It’s a great hobby.”
“Hobby?” Jordan looked at Trevor as if he was insane.
“Yeah.” He chuckled. “I find it relaxing and enjoyable, and maybe someday I will try and sell a piece or two, but the café is where I am happiest.” Trevor gave Jordan a small smile.
“So, you were hoping I would be here…You’re not bailing on me for Open Mic night, are you?” Trevor said teasingly, but inside he was freaking out at the possibility.
“No! No, I was just wondering if you had a minute to listen to this song I wrote. I finished it last night.” Jordan looked back at the photo, looking as though he was worried Trevor might say no. Trevor wanted to yell out Yes!!! But he didn’t want to seem overly anxious either, so he said,
“I would love to,” and smiled at Jordan. “Do you want to do it here or up at my place?”
Jordan snickered and Trevor’s face got hot. “You know what I mean,” Trevor said, grinning..
