Maybe a change of scenery—a new place to put down roots—is just what he needs for a second chance to find some happiness.
Winterbourne Vale is only too happy to help his much-loved aunt and uncle run their café in Canada while on his short December break—even if it means leaving his home in the United Kingdom. After a defeated-looking Colton walks into the café, Winter is determined to lift his spirits.
Can Colton and Winter’s Christmas happiness continue long after the gifts are unwrapped and the decorations are stowed away?
Walking in a Winter Wonderland is holiday treat filled with special ornaments and glistening snow, hot tea and cold-weather kisses, along with some sexy shenanigans and plenty of holiday cheer.
REVIEW:
So, I really wanted to like Colton and Winter’s story. It had all the promise of a good Christmas romance and I tried hard to get into it but it just didn’t work that well for me.
Colton has had a hard time of things, there’s no doubt about it. Losing the people you love is always hard to get over and at Christmas it always seems worse. It should have been easy to find sympathy for him but I did struggle with that throughout the book. And to be honest, he just sort of came across as whiny sometimes. I know he has a lot of reasons to be, but it didn’t really make him attractive to me.
Winter is a good guy. Sweet and caring and he tries really hard to bring the cheer Colton is missing into his life. Everyone needs a guy as good as Winter in their lives.
This story is cute and I’m trying to find the words to tell you what was wrong with it for me, but it just lacked real feeling. I wanted to be swept up and taken on a journey that wouldn’t let me go until the happily ever after that Colton and Winter deserved. But I honestly had to push myself to finish it.
Winter’s family is cute, so there’s that and they sprinkle a little humour through the story that did make me smile. The author uses great imagery and being from the area where the story is set, I appreciate all the little details she’s gets right.
I’m giving this story 3 hearts because I recognize that there will be a lot of readers out there who will appreciate this kind of romance and it wasn’t bad per say.
I just didn’t connect with the characters like I’d hoped to and it left me a little sad.
However, if Christmas is your thing, you will probably like it a lot.
