This is a Series Review of The Chosen One Series (Books 1 – 3)
AUTHOR: Macy Blake
PUBLISHER: Self-Published
SERIES REVIEW:
The Chosen One series is an interesting read about a polyamorous group of men, most of whom are paranormal in some way. One human is at the center of the group, and as the story proceeds, we learn far more about him. I’m going to tell you that if you read this entire series review, there will be a spoiler, which is fairly major, about the Chosen One.
I enjoyed all three books in the series, but honestly enjoyed them more out of order. I read them 1, 2, 3. And then read them 3, 1, 2 and enjoyed it more because I knew some of the references which puzzled me on my first read.
By far, my favorite story of the three was the prelude, book three, Sweet Nothings, and I’m going to bump up my entire series rating because of that book.

Sawyer Smith is preparing to take on the world, and with his graduate degree only days away, he’s hoping to convince his gorgeous best friend and neighbor to come along for the ride. There’s only one problem; Draco has a secret, a big scaly secret, and it’s about to change Sawyer’s life forever.
When three mysterious men move into the new mansion across the street, Sawyer is plunged into a fantastical world he never knew existed, one filled with creatures of legend. Discovering the truth about Draco and his role as guardian of The Chosen One is only the tip of the paranormal iceberg.
Being drawn to this strange new world is challenging enough, but then Sawyer finds himself attracted to all The Chosen One’s guardians. Giving into his desire comes with incredible risks. Once the chosen one is found, Sawyer will return to his human life, without the guardians, without Draco.
As danger mounts, Sawyer must choose between guarding his heart from the men he grows closer to by the day, or give in and risk losing it all.
REVIEW:
At first, I wasn’t sure about this one. There is a lot, and I mean a lot, of fast moving relationships in the story, and they all seem to end in sex, quite quickly. But I gave it a chance and I really liked it.
Sawyer Smith has just finished his graduate degree and at the same time he has watched a large mansion be built directly across the street from his, and his neighbor Draco’s houses. He has been secretly pining for the sexy neighbor but has never said anything. It turns out the neighbor has had thoughts of him as well, but there is a reason that Draco can’t act on his lust.
When Sawyer and Draco go across the street to meet the new neighbors, it turns out that not only is Draco something called a guardian to someone called The Chosen One, but the other three guys across the street are as well.
I’m not sure which of the guardians was most interesting. We had a human magician, a vampire and a griffin shifter. Draco is a dragon shifter though, and big and burly and dominant, so he won out in the end in my opinion. 😊
The story proceeds and the men get to know each other. Very well, as matter of fact. This is a story that will work for anyone who enjoys a multiple partner, bordering on orgy, type story. Everyone is in bed with everyone, and sometimes all at the same time.
I’ll admit, I was confused on some of the character references to people not in this actual story. After reading the third book, which in my opinion should be the first book, it made more sense when I went back and re-read this one.
I recommend this book as part of the series.

TITLE: Nothing Ventured
LENGTH: 242 pages
RELEASE DATE: August 19, 2018
BLURB:
Sawyer Smith is woefully unprepared for the dangers that come with being part of the supernatural world. As a magical null, he is human and vulnerable, even with the powerful, sexy guardians who have claimed him as their own. When a simple visit turns deadly, Sawyer’s mates take action and whisk him away to the clan of rich and powerful griffins.
As a griffin, Eduard Eastaughffe is considered supernatural royalty, but even with all his wealth and power, his duty as a guardian must come before all else. If he can convince his clan to support his newfound mates and not judge the fact they include a dragon, a vampire, a mage, and–Goddess forbid–a human, the rest of the clans may fall in line without much of a fight.
Danger lurks in close quarters and a new guardian is revealed. If Sawyer hopes to discover the ancient enemy hunting the Chosen One, he must survive the newest tests facing him. Because at the end of the day, when you’re a human among magical creatures, it’s nothing ventured… nothing gained.
REVIEW:
In Nothing Ventured, we continue with Sawyer Smith’s story. He is now the Chosen One and has spoken in person with a Goddess. What can possibly go wrong?
A lot. Following a couple attacks, one by Sawyer’s mailman, the group moves him to safety at Eduard’s family estate on a secluded island off the coast. Not everyone is happy with the idea, including Eduard’s family, especially his father. There is no way that the Chosen One can be a magic-less human!
The story speeds along, and Sawyer ends up betrayed by someone close to Eduard. No one knows where he is when he disappears, and the search is on for him.
I really enjoyed the newest guardian introduced in this one. No spoilers… read it for yourself.

TITLE: Sweet Nothings
LENGTH: 230 Pages
RELEASE DATE: September 28, 2018
BLURB:
Sam Baker couldn’t be more normal. He’s a teacher at the local middle school and the most exciting part of his day is dealing with a classroom full of hormonal preteens. His life takes a turn for the weird one stormy night when he finds a small boy on his doorstep. A boy who growls, flashes unnaturally blue eyes, demands for Sam to call the alpha– whatever that is– and gives Sam the one name he wishes he could forget: Vaughn Jerrick.
Vaughn Jerrick is the alpha to a pack of wolf shifters and a doctor to the supernatural world. After sharing a steamy one-night stand with Sam years ago, Vaughn couldn’t consider the possibility of a future with the man, no matter how much he wanted him. Bringing a human into his world is against the rules, but one phone call changes everything, and Vaughn finds himself face-to-face with the man who could give him everything he’s ever wanted.
Rescuing one small child turns into saving six from a dark and uncertain fate, and although Sam doesn’t understand the world he’s been forced into, he would never turn his back on children in need, even if it means confronting his past with Vaughn.
As Vaughn and Sam join forces to protect the children put into their care, the future they’ve both dreamed of is within their reach, but first they need to survive the sinister force looking to rip away everything they’ve come to hold dear.
REVIEW:
So, I’d like to go on record as having said that this book, in my opinion, needs to be read first. It solved all my questions in book one of who these people Henry was talking about were.
Sam Baker is a school teacher, who one night finds a young boy at his door. The boy is begging to be taken to Alpha Jerrick. The only Jerrick that Sam knows is the ex-football jock named Vaughn Jerrick that he kind of had a crush on in high school and that he hooked up with one night in the back of Vaughn’s SUV outside a bar in town. That hook-up ended up with Vaughn walking away and ignoring Sam completely thereafter. Against his better judgement Sam calls him, and when he explains the situation, Vaughn rushes to Sam’s house to see the kid. As with the other books in this series, one thing leads to another, and Sam is thrust into a world of paranormal creatures. It turns out the child is a werewolf, and so is Vaughn. Humans aren’t allowed to know the truth that the paranormal creatures exist, but Vaughn gets special dispensation because of the complexity of this event.
It turns out there are more kids, and all of them are imprisoned in an old moldering house in the woods. The rescue is on, and the story builds from there. I loved getting to know Sam and Vaughn and hope to see more of them in the series going forward, as well as the rest of Henry’s family. Oh, did I forget to mention? Henry is one of the rescued kids. I particularly hope that we hear more of Henry’s younger brother Ollie.
I so should have started with this one, and as I mentioned at the top of this series review, I did in fact on my second read through.

I agree – Sweet Nothings is my favorite and should be read first. I enjoyed the other two more on re-reading, since I wasn’t being overwhelmed by all the characters.
