TITLE: The Night Sky Festival
SERIES: Dreamspinner 2018 Advent Calendar Warmest Wishes
AUTHOR: S.A. Stovall
PUBLISHER: Dreamspinner Press
LENGTH: 24 Pages
RELEASE DATE: December 1, 2018
BLURB:
Photographer Zach is happy to pack up his gear and head to the Mojave Desert over the holidays. Ever since his ex-husband filed for divorce a day before Christmas, it’s safe to say this isn’t Zach’s favorite time of year.
Fortunately, he stumbles upon a town where the residents seem to agree. The good people of Baker would much rather celebrate the possibility of extraterrestrials as they dance under the stars in their unique “Night Sky Festival.” The locals are interesting, to say the least, and they want Zach to join them.
But is Zach ready to let go of his holiday bitterness? And if so, whose invitation should he accept: the cute cashier, the burly single dad, or the sexy fun-loving cop?
REVIEW:
I’ve been struggling with what to say about this story. Zach is bitter and cranky for most of the story, until shamed into being nice by each man he meets. It makes it really hard to like him.
The other characters we meet go through so fleetingly that we don’t get a chance to really get to know them at all beyond the very bare minimum. Once again, it’s hard to work up any kind of interest based on the little we know.
There’s just too much story for 24 pages and it just doesn’t work at all and that’s too bad because I really liked the premise of the whole thing. I appreciate the work the author put into this story, but it just left me wanting more. A lot more.

I’ve only read SA Stovall’s slightly grim books so far, it’ll be interesting reading this holidays story! 😉 Thank you for the review.
I’m not familiar with the author and although it would be interesting to read about celebrating something other than Xmas, I’m not interesting in reading love triangles or whatever it might be in this case. Thank you for the review it helps alot having a more in depth view on a story I’m on the fence about ^^
The premise sounds good but I’m not sure how well the story could be told in just 24 pages. I like character development and 24 pages just doesn’t seem enough time.
It does sound incredibly brief!
Too bad. I like some of the author’s other Christmas stories.
I like bitter and cranky characters cause it’s so much fun to see them open up. But 24 pages makes me think how much could have been fit in and with it being too much story.
Sure I liked this authors story last year, will see when I get to it!
Sometimes stories just don’t do short versions
I was really looking forward to S.A. Stovall… but in the end I was left with many question marks.
