Frosty former friends get a steamy second chance in this Christmas gay romance!
Can true love warm his frozen heart?
When Casey Stevens went away to college four years ago, he ghosted on his straight best friend, Joel Vreeland. He hoped time and distance would lessen the unrequited affection he felt, but all it did was make him miss Joel more. Home for the holidays, Casey hopes they might find a way to be friends again. But Joel’s frosty reception reminds Casey of just how hard he had to fight to be Joel’s friend in the first place. It’s going to take a Christmas miracle to get past that cool façade again.
Joel isn’t as straight as Casey believes, and his years of pining for Casey have left him hurting and alone, caring for his abusive father and struggling to get by. Unable to trust anyone except his rescue dog—and with no reason to believe Casey is interested in him for more than a holiday fling—Joel’s icy heart might shatter before it can thaw.
Can Casey and Joel’s love overcome mistrust, parental rejection, class differences, and four long years apart?
Mr. Frosty Pants is a stand-alone, Christmas gay romance by Leta Blake featuring a virgin hero, childhood friends-to-lovers, second chance romance, and romantically steamy scenes.
REVIEW:
I have got to say before we get started, there is some abuse and talk of abuse. It’s not bad, but if anything triggers you, have a care. There is very hateful, bigoted speech as well from a father, so have a care at that as well. Other than that, nothing like getting into the holidays than reading about a Scrooge. Lol. Well, not really. Yeah, he’s a bit grumpy, but if you had his life, you might be grumpy too. But sometimes things work out in ways we couldn’t imagine, and Christmas becomes about miracles.
I really felt for Joel and Casey in this book. Both had asshole father’s, although I think Joel had it worse. Not that Casey had a picnic. But nothing seems to go right for Joel it seems. He has dreams like everyone else, but his just seem to get stomped on. And now the one dream he had more than any, is back and standing in from of him wanting a Christmas tree. After four years of silence. Yeah, things are Rocky with these two friends. A Lot of miscommunication, hurt feelings, and feelings of despair. I didn’t know what to do about Joel. Do you hug him? Shake him? But then you find out how he is and why he is, and damn……yeah, you hug him.
Casey wasn’t as bad off as Joel. I mean he has an asshole for a father as well, but at least they had money. But then again, money isn’t everything, especially when it’s being used to keep you under thumb. But Casey finally thawing Joel out some, has shown him how things could possibly be between them and he wants it all. Especially when he finds out Joel has been in love with him for just as long. But Joel doesn’t trust. But I love Casey, because no matter what, he digs in and don’t give up. He may be scared, but he keeps going. And he is what Joel needs to see that things can be better and not so toxic. And for a Christmas miracle, Joel gets to see he’s loved and not alone. Now if he will just accept it.
I loved it. It’s heartbreaking, tear jerking, and angsty. But hopeful. And in supply of Christmas miracles. Definitely recommended.
