A warm welcome to Ari from Ari NcKay joining us today to talk about new release “Quenched in Blood”.
Hi, everyone! Ari of Ari McKay joining you once again! This time I more than have to thank Dani for her incredible patience and kindness, since I am about as scatterbrained as I’ve ever been in my life. It never rains but it pours, right? On top of personal health issues, my daughter needing emergency surgery, plus my job and writing, I’ve taken on a new puppy — so cute, but SO MUCH WORK. But Dani is a darling and keeps me on the straight and narrow, so here I am, ready to tell you about our latest released, Quenched in Blood. This is the third book of the Asheville Arcana series, and since it wraps up the story arc we began in Out of the Ashes, there is a lot going on!
The story revolves around Julian Schaden, our snarky, paranoid, introverted vampire who has now lost both of his “friends with benefits” to their true mates. At the moment, however, Julian is more concerned with the demon incursion he is still convinced is imminent, and with discovering the identity of whoever it is who had been holed up on the Carter farm since Out of the Ashes. It turns out to be Thomas Carter, who was raised by his grandfather in complete ignorance of the paranormal community and of his own place in it. Julian is shocked that a demon hunter like Micah Carter would not only turn his back on his birthright, but deny Thomas the heritage for which he was meant, so he agrees to train Thomas into his abilities, knowing all the while that they need Thomas to help prevent the evil that threatens their world.
As you can probably guess, young Thomas falls hard for his irascible teacher, while Julian is far too tempted by the youth and innocence of handsome Thomas. Yet as they grow closer, so does the danger, and Julian knows that he can’t protect Thomas from either the danger or Thomas’s own destiny.
If you enjoyed Out of the Ashes and Forged in Fire, I’m hoping you’ll be pleased with both Julian and Thomas’s love story and with the resolution to the Demon Time arc. The book can absolutely be read as a standalone, but for fans of the earlier stories, all your favorites are back to support Julian and Thomas – Arden, Eli, Whimsy, Harlan, Brianna Winddaughter, Tharn the Alpha, Marin Goldenvoice and all the witches and werewolves. It’s an epic battle, and, we hope, a satisfying resolution for everyone!
Thank you so much for giving us a few minutes of your day to natter about our story, and we hope you’ll give it a try! And thanks again to Dani and her lovely crew at Love Bytes!
BLURB:
Will love mean rebirth… or death?
Vampire Julian Schaden has been warning the Asheville Paranormal Council of an impending demonic incursion for more than two decades. Over the past two years, he and his friends have fought as hard as they can with little help, since Micah Carter, the demon hunter who should have led them, shirked his responsibility and then perished.
Desperate for anything that might aid the fight, Julian enters the Carter property and finds something he never dared hope for: young Thomas Carter, the heir to a long line of demon hunters.
Thomas knows nothing about the supernatural world. But the prospect of a real life, outside the sheltered, isolated farm where he grew up, calls to him, and the idea of fighting the Unholy feels right.
Julian agrees to train Thomas, but he struggles against an unexpected, unwanted attraction. Thomas is too young and innocent to get involved with Julian, but opposites attract, and this is one battle Julian seems fated to lose. But a prophecy from a dying mage comes with a bleak warning: the upcoming battle will claim Thomas’s life. To keep his home and friends safe, Julian may have to sacrifice the only love he’s ever known.

Ari McKay is the professional pseudonym for Arionrhod and McKay, who have been writing together for over a decade. Their collaborations encompass a wide variety of romance genres, including contemporary, fantasy, science fiction, gothic, and action/adventure. Their work includes the Blood Bathory series of paranormal novels, the Herc’s Mercs series, as well as two historical Westerns: Heart of Stone and Finding Forgiveness. When not writing, they can often be found scheming over costume designs or binge watching TV shows together.
Arionrhod is a systems engineer by day who is eagerly looking forward to (hopefully) becoming a full time writer in the not-too-distant future. Now that she is an empty-nester, she has turned her attentions to finding the perfect piece of land to build a fortress in preparation for the zombie apocalypse, and baking (and eating) far too many cakes.
McKay is an English teacher who has been writing for one reason or another most of her life. She also enjoys knitting, reading, cooking, and playing video games. She has been known to knit in public. Given she has the survival skills of a gnat, she’s relying on Arionrhod to help her survive the zombie apocalypse.
