With planning a wedding, the Enki fest, the opening reception of the auction house, and the art exhibition, the Earned are stretched thin serving. Edward strikes gold when he stumbles upon a young artist with a secret. He reminds Edward of a cycles-old love—one he’s going to need to focus on as his youngest son is once again thrust into unknown kinds of magic.
The two powerful Captains and their new allegiance are put to the test. So is their friendship as Jeff continues to work on saving his marriage.
REVIEW:
I love this author, and I hate him. I love the books… I really get into the books… and then they end, and I’m stuck tapping my foot and waiting for the next one. It isn’t fair. But seriously, I love this author. If you haven’t been reading this series, you should be. Let me tell you why.
First Son of the Mound is no exception to how much I’ve enjoyed this series so far. You’d think by book eight in a series I would have had enough and moved on. Not so. I love this series. I love the character of Kaleb and he just keeps getting better. I also liked the other characters and events in this one, and the drawing together of different beings. The story feels like it is coming together more as it moves along, but I have no idea how much more there is to tell. It basically reads like a story that I could be reading the next installments of for years to come. I don’t see an end in sight, unless the author is going to spring something on us at some point.
I will warn you that as I’ve said repeatedly above… this one is a part of a series and this series must be read in order. The books all continue on the next page flip from the book before them, so start with book one and work through them. I guarantee you will not be sorry. If you like a play on contemporary, but with Angels, Gods, the Fae, Witches, a shadowy Order, Gargoyles, and a race of beings called the Earned, you will love it.
