Rocko earned and loved his reputation as the wild child of the rock band, Carter’s Creed. His bandmates dubbed him Animal, not only for his skills on the drums, but because he was always looking for the next thrill. Sex, drugs and rock and roll were what he lived for. That was until one night when his wild ways nearly cost him his life.
As the owner of Golden Entertainment Studios, Lachlan Edwards had a vested interest in his newest clients, the members of the band, Carter’s Creed. He wasn’t surprised when they quickly rose to the top of the music charts, given their talent, but he was concerned with how their drummer, Rocko, seemed to be spiraling out of control. When Rocko seemingly hits rock bottom, Lachlan decides to step in and offer him a chance to recover.
Will Rocko accept Lachlan’s offer even if it means facing the past he’s tried so hard to run away from, or will it all prove to be too much and send him spinning out of control once again?
REVIEW:
Darn it but why can’t the world leave me alone so I can just sit and devour this series? I am madly in love with these sexy and suffering “Souls”!
Rocko, the super sexy and talented drummer for Carter’s Creed, has hit rock bottom and there are only two ways to go, pick up the pieces of his shattered life and attempt to put himself together again…or simply die, because that is all that is left for his life. After all, he had already literally died twice in the ambulance when Steve found him in that hotel. What he hadn’t expected was for their record label owner to take such a interest in his recovery.
Lachlan Edwards, owner of Golden Entertainment Studios, knew the moment that he saw Rocko strut on stage, when he went to see the band Carter’s Creed preform, that he was in trouble. The man literally took all his attention. When Landon Greene let him know how Rocko had coded twice in an ambulance after his band mate Steve found him almost dead in a cold bath tub of water he knew that he had to do something. So he did what he needed and convinced the band that Rocko needed intense attention and therapy after he was released from rehab. When Rocko was dropped off at his mansion outside of Chicago he was a shell of the man that Lachlan had pined after. But with the help of his personal therapist and friend, Dr. Hudson Westley, Lachlan knew it would be hard but they could help the man…but only if he learned to trust them and lean on them. Something that was going to take a lot of work.
This story was so deeply touching. Both these men know what it is like to want for the love and touch that they have been kept from in their lives. Lachlan may have had parents but they were too busy globe trotting to have time for him and his younger brother Spencer, that had died in the imprisonment camp that he had been in with Micah, Landon’s fiancé. Thankfully they had had Kerry and Benjamin to look out after them all those years but it still left a sting that he was never good enough for his parents love and attention. However sad Lachlan’s youth was it was nothing compared to the harsh brutality and lovelessness that Rylie/Rocko had endured at the hands of the foster care system. What little “warmth” he had had in his youth had almost broke him and left him feeling like the scum he saw himself as. I loved watching these two men learn to trust and reach for what they so richly deserved…a soulmate that would love them with all their heart and treasure them until their last breath. I never wanted this story to end. These two men ripped my heart from me and made me love them all the more. The only thing I would have wanted more from this story was how Rylie got his scars. But then again, it don’t know if I could have stood hearing how a child was torture so maybe better left not delved on.
I was a little leery to branch off from the Green Brothers and their family. I have grown so fond of all of them and their significant others but I was really eager to hear the story behind Carter’s Creed’s wild child. This story left me reeling more than all the rest and that was saying something big! I am surprisingly shocked how the author can keep on upping herself. I keep thinking she can’t possibly out do the last book to find myself even more enamored with her writing. I keep thanking the powers that be that I got to stop and talk with this amazingly gifted writer. I have become a huge fan and still can’t believe that this is her first series!
As you can guess, I loved this story, quite possibly the most in the series yet. If you haven’t read these amazing books then you have truly been missing out on some of the most wonderful men! I highly recommend this book but urge you to read the entire series in order. That are that good and something you don’t want to miss one moment of.
