For years I’d avoided omegas. They were too tempting. In heat, they pulled alphas like me across a hot, dangerous line. I couldn’t risk hurting another one…
Until I caught his scent on a cold Manhattan night. My extravagant world crashed around us as our bodies and hearts collided. His taste brought me to my knees.
All this time I thought I was different. I thought I could change this city, choked by corruption and greed. But one omega, struggling to find his way, showed me the frailty of authority, and the power of acceptance.
Now we fight. We stand up to those who seek to break us; but how much pain can we endure? Is our love and future worth the blood and bruises? How can life possibly spring from the ashes around us?
“It was a kiss I’d never felt before; it was the slow, gentle taste of a person who holds a piece of your heart, and whom you have greatly missed.”
Help us as we try to see the world around us for what it is, and find the love we know is in our broken hearts.
REVIEW:
What a book! This right here is one of the reasons I love alpha/omegas so much. It just makes for a powerful and awesome. And I love that people have misconceptions of omegas. Omegas are my favorites because people often think them small or weak or beneath everyone, but they are the ones kicking ass and taking names. They may get beat down in the process but they are in truth the strong ones. And in this book, it’s no different. I love it.
Jeremiah is small. He’s a little guy, but adorable. He’s beauty inside and out. Life hasn’t been the best or easy but him and his uncle ‘Pap’ have done all they can to keep going, especially after his mom died. His asshole, douchebag father just makes everything worse. Jeremiah has suspicions about him, and does his best to stay far away. But one night as he was taking the trash out from his Uncle’s restaurant, his life changes. In some good ways and some bad.
Asher can’t get that scent out of his nose. It’s calling to him. After all these years of hiding himself away from omegas, this one he can’t hold back from. Even after he told himself he would. But Jer is on board this lust fest until Pap breaks it up and another alpha tries to hurt Jer. Asher runs the guy off as he is run off but he can’t get Jer out of his mind. And an internship at his job opens the door in many ways. And some not good.
Have you ever read a book just rooting for someone to get killed? Especially when they are douchecanoes? So i can’t give anything away right? But holy hell I wanted to crawl in this book and beat the crap out of someone! Jer is just…perfect. to me. Sure he goofs up like anyone but damn I love his spunk. His compassion, his grit, and his soul. He is the best. And another Omega I’m adding to my growing list of ones I love. But this baby has been through hell. He fights though. He may not get far but he fights. And I love it.
And then we have Asher. *Eye roll* Asher is great, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes alphas need to be clubbed over the head to get the point across. But Asher is special too. He’s been through a pen ordeal himself and it’s haunted him ever since. He’s done all he can to make things right. To make things better. I admire his character. And Jer is perfect for him. Once Jer is over his nervousness, he takes no crap from Asher and often sets him in his place. Sometimes it’s funny. I mean this little 5’4 Omega next to this over 6 ft huge alpha. If the situations weren’t so serious, it would be a lot more funny.
In some place this book was hard to read. Not because it was bad, but because it was so emotional and raw. The way it was written just pulled at everything you could think of. These guys went through some shit. What’s that saying? If it doesn’t kill you, it makes you stronger. Yeah, sometimes you wish for death lol. Not really but ya know…
This was one hell of a book. I don’t want to give anything away but I recommend this. Just be prepared. It’s going to pull you hard in some spots. But that’s what makes it worthwhile to me. Life’s not easy.
