Homeland Security investigators Felix Jbarra and Pope Dades are about to work their first big case as partners. Someone is creating counterfeit government documents and selling them through a site similar to the old Silk Road which was shut down years ago. As they dive into the case with the help of their friends at the FBI and LAPD, Felix and Pope realize the Dark Web site is selling more than documents. It’s selling death.
When a man connected with the website turns up murdered, it’s all hands on deck and with so many letter agencies involved in this case, coordinating all parties is bound to be a challenge. When yet another agency unexpectedly gets involved, their bosses would find it laughable if it wasn’t so damned dangerous.
Felix and Pope are getting used to being partners but they are well-trained professionals who must learn to trust each other at work as well as at home. When a bomb almost kills them, they have no choice but to shorten that learning curve. From the mean streets of Hollywood to unfamiliar places on the Dark Net, our heroes put themselves in danger every moment, trying their best to protect innocents while keeping each other alive.
Order and Anarchy contains an exciting excerpt from Crime and Chaos Book 3!
REVIEW:
Oh my goodness gracious…this one literally had me at the edge of my seat most of the time!
Felix Jbarra and Pope Dades are now three months in as partners for Homeland Security. Pope can now breathe a bit easier since he left the homophobic LAPD’s Hollywood Precinct where his former partner and some others had kidnapped and beaten him severely for being gay. He was learning to trust a partner again, both on the job and in the bedroom and Felix was the right one to trust. When they, and the other federal alphabet agencies, get wind of a new dark web site that are passing high quality fake passports and green cards, they know that they have to get this shut down fast. When, on their first lead, the men, along with the FBI’s agents Lincoln Snow and Mac McCallahan, they are almost blown to bits by a cyberterrorist, they know things are even more dangerous. The Claymore bomb was no laughing matter and they were all lucky to be alive. When things start heating up on the case the men rely on each other more, something Pope is starting to grasp on to, but when he realizes that he is learning to trust Felix with more than just his life at work to rattles Pope. How can Felix, who is still deep in the closet to his friends and family, convince Pope that they are a good match and he should listen to his heart too?
I love how this book has moved us forward in Pope and Felix’s rocky relationship. Felix has endeared himself to me because he knows that he has to move slowly and tread lightly with Pope. Pope has opened up about some of the things that have made him the way he is but Felix knows there is more. He can’t believe that Pope doesn’t realize what a catch he is. Pope doesn’t understand what the gorgeous young man see in him. He’s seven years older, which is a sizable difference at their ages, and his broken and aching body should turn him off but Felix keeps wanting more. I loved how patient and understanding Felix is. He is wise beyond his age.
Let me assure you, Patty hasn’t given up on her attempts to harm and maim her men. She keeps me at the edge of my wits as I race to the next page constantly to make sure that everyone is okay and unharmed. When she had Jarrett and Thayne come back (I’m sure everyone heard my squeal across the lands!) I was sure she was going to do something awful to them. I was as worried about Jarrett’s safety as Thayne was! It was great to see all the great people back from the Death and Destruction Series. I had missed them all. I fell for all those couples.
I think that I liked this book even better than the first one in the series. The first one was more of a “get to know you” whereas this book starts to get to the core of who Felix and Pope are. I can’t wait for the next book in the series to watch their relationship to blossom and grow as Pope learns to trust his heart to Felix and Felix becomes brave enough to share his sexuality with his family and friends. I absolutely love this series and can’t wait for more! An exciting and fast paced thriller that I highly recommend!
