REVIEW:
Dirty Bites is a freebie from Rhys Ford and Greg Tremblay and it contains snippets from between the books, scenes from Bobby’s and Jae’s POVs along with a few character interviews. They are short, sweet and a lot of fun to listen to.
The book starts off with a couple of notes from Ford and Tremblay. How it all started, what the series has meant to them. How it changed them. And let me tell you that when I heard that Dirty Kiss was Greg Tremblay’s first foray into audiobook narration I was beyond stunned. Never my life could I have guessed that. Nothing in that narration gave any indication of this. So I have to take my (non-existent) hat of for Tremblay, I’m even more amazed at his talents than I already was. Absolutely flawless.
It was a lot of fun listening to this book. The stories were short, fun and some steamier than others. We got to know a bit of what happened between the books but also a few things from other perspectives. I do have to say that my favourite one was the one where Jae accidentally went dumpster diving and his (mis)adventures with the not quite alive mouse. That scene is so amazingly descriptive that it had my toes curling and me cringing and yet it was beyond awesome. I did read an interview with Ford a while back, where they told the readers that they’d actually had had that happen in real life – which is probably why it all felt so real – because it was.
I’m sad that this is the end of the series, I’ve loved every single moment I’ve spent with this gang and while they might make guest appearances future books and series by Ford, it’s not quite the same, but I’ll take what I can get and wait for the next time we meet.
