BLURB:
Jackson Lewis isn’t a typical werewolf. He isolates himself in a small town outside Spokane and dedicates himself to making his business—Lone Wolf Brewery—a success. If it leaves him little time for romance, he’s okay with that. His soul mate could be out there somewhere, but he isn’t actively looking.
So he’s in for quite the shock when he literally bumps into his soul mate—Leo Gallagher, an adorable, nerdy, vibrant music therapist who’s Jackson’s polar opposite.
But he’s human. And a man.
Jackson is straight—or at least he’s always assumed so. Though he can’t deny his attraction to Leo, it’s a lot for both of them to deal with.
While Jackson and Leo figure out what their future might hold, they face prejudice from both the human and werewolf communities—including a group of fanatics willing to kill to show humans and werewolves don’t belong together.
REVIEW:
Oh my goodness, where do I start? Jackson is such a sweet man, socially awkward but with a heart of gold. When he realizes that Leo is his soul mate, he has a lot to deal with and he does it the best way he knows how.
Leo is a kind soul who’s open to anything that life has to throw at him and right from the beginning he’s the perfect match for Jackson.
I couldn’t decide who tugged at my heart more through the whole story, but Jackson is the kind of character that just makes me want to hug him and keep him safe from the pain he’s facing, even when it’s coming from himself.
Leo’s friend Mitch is the only little glitch in the whole story for me. He was maybe just a little bit over the top for me, but I did appreciate his devotion and loyalty to his friend.
Jackson’s family is wonderful and the interactions he had with them felt real, like the way I’d be with my own family when I’m trying to figure things out in my life.
The author knows how to paint a picture with her words and I had no problem seeing Jackson and Leo’s worlds in my head. I could picture the places Jackson lived and all the places that the two men visited in the story.
Jackson’s struggle to accept himself and the things that fate brought to him is poignant and heartfelt. He’s never perfect but he tries so hard to accept Leo for who he is without letting his own fear and bias’ get in the way.
Leo? He’s almost too perfect. He accepts Jackson for who he is, right from the beginning and understands almost better than Jackson does what the other man is going through. Leo doesn’t hesitate to look out for himself though, when he really needs to and I like that about him.
This is a great story, with a little angst, a little intrigue and some bad guys you really get to hate. Anna Martin writes fantastic dialogue and I really can’t think of one single real complaint about this book. It’s a different take on the soul mate trope and I really enjoyed this author’s take on it.
