A warm welcome to author Elle Keaton joining us today to talk about her newest release “His Best Man”, part of the succesfull Accidental Roots series. Elle talks about her new release and brought a wonderful giveaway for our readers!
Welcome Elle 🙂
“Every time is the scariest time.”
You hear authors (and any kind of artist really) say this all the time – it’s true! This is the seventh book in the Accidental Roots series and every single time I commit and hit the ‘publish now’ button I am a nervous wreck. So yes, right now I am nervous as heck.
I can’t speak for everyone but for me it’s like taking your kid to the first day of school. Some kids cry and don’t want you to leave them, others are so ready they don’t want you to stay and practically shove you out the door. And yeah, by book seven there is a sort of routine but … it’s still terrifying. This book is definitely wanting me to stick around and watch for a little while. J
Anyway, about His Best Man – and friends to lovers.
This was a little different (in my mind) because Travis and Rod had known each other for so long. They weren’t just college or high school buddies. And they weren’t struggling so much with their sexuality as they were with changing their own expectations of themselves.
Before His Best Man, I’d never written a friends to lovers trope – I suppose No Pressure came closest. I think the hardest part to write was the fear each character felt that they might damage or permanently lose the friendship they’d had for so many years. Can you imagine?
I’ll share a little personal history here J. I just married someone I’ve been friends with for thirty-four years. The hardest part for me when we were first *dating* is that I honestly wasn’t sure if we were dating. Were we hanging out as old friends who reconnected? Or was there more? What was happening? Okay, so we figured it out and we had been dating and I hadn’t known it. Silly me. See it really can happen.
Maybe this is why I am feeling a little separation anxiety for myself and His Best Man, it’s closer to my heart than I realized!
Now they are out in the big bad world for you to meet, I hope you love them as much as I do <3
Blurb:
Rod Beton and Travis Walker have known each other almost all their lives; since the third grade when Rod was the new kid in town and Travis befriended him with Pokémon trading cards and a fruit snack. Apparently Rod’s easy. Since that day they’ve had each other’s back’s, bread and butter, biscuit and gravy…and so on.
Along the way, Rod fell in love with Travis. He’s been hoping for some kind of signal from Travis that he returns Rod’s feelings. When Travis announces his surprise engagement over Thanksgiving dinner Rod decides he’s done waiting for the impossible. He packs his belongings and heads for Skagit and a new life. Even if Travis suddenly decided Rod was the man for him would Rod be able to put aside his insecurities?
Travis always knew he was destined to take over the family business. As the only boy he’s expected to take the helm of the Walker farming operation, and he’s good at it. An engagement to a local girl he’s pals with seems like the perfect solution, gets him mom off his back and ensures the family line — eventually. When his best friend abruptly leaves town Travis’s eyes are finally opened to the difference between what is expected of him and what he could expect for himself.
His Best Man is a standalone in the Accidental Roots series, a friends to lovers mm romance with an HEA. Bisexual/gay.

Author/imaginator & photographer (also rare Pacific Northwest Native), Elle grew up in Seattle, WA., with the Cascade Mountain range to the east and Olympics to the west. Elle shares her life with between three to five cats (depending on who’s counting), an extremely patient husband and a flock of young adults. She’s lived in four US states, London England, and Hong Kong; always knows what time it is, and has little problem finding parking even in the most difficult places. Elle’s series made its debut spring of 2017. Accidental Roots, is set in the Skagit Valley of Western Washington. Writing has always been a passion but not something she was able to take seriously until recently, some journeys are longer than others. Now her head is full of ideas and not enough time in each day. As far as we know she wasn’t actually raised by wolves.
